Was up at Dunmoyle on Sunday, well contested affair by both teams even though it was tough to get any good sequences of play going with a very whistle happy referee. Didn't see what McMahon and Starrs did in the scuffle towards the end but there was a bit of a melee and fists were thrown. Number 6 for Clonoe definitely butted, think Diarmaid Kerr (No. 7) may well have been on the receiving end as reports say he has a broken nose.
Omagh were well off the pace in the first half shooting far too many wides and not really having much fluidity to their play against the wind. They will look back on two early 2nd half strikes from Clonoe that both came back off the woodwork as being a tad lucky. However a 2nd half inspired by the phenomenal Conan Grugan and McMahon brothers eventually saw them home even though they had to sweat a little more than they should have towards the end. Some of the younger player's still showed that inexperience in not putting the nail in the coffin when 3 points up in injury time. Grugan will surely be giving Mickey Harte food for thought with performances like that and the previous week. Will be interesting to see how they fair against Errigal Sunday week without big Joe.
