General discussion / Pub chain limits parents' drinks

Pub chain limits parents' drinks

JD Wetherspoon has 683 pubs in the UK
Adults with children are only allowed two alcoholic drinks at JD Wetherspoon pubs in order to limit their stay, the chain has confirmed to the BBC.
A spokesman for the company said it was "uncomfortable" with children being on the premises for long periods because of a lack of play facilities.

And he said parents visiting its pubs could even be refused soft drinks or coffee to curtail their stay.

There are 683 Wetherspoon pubs throughout the UK.

The drinks policy came to light when Stephen Gandy contacted the BBC after visiting a Wetherspoon pub in Wallasey on Merseyside for a meal with family and friends.

The group was told that they could not have more than two alcoholic drinks each because they were with a child, even though the child's mother was only drinking water.

The family say they were told that the aim of the restriction was to prevent "child cruelty".

When the BBC contacted JD Wetherspoon a spokesman confirmed the policy was in place, but denied it had anything to do with child cruelty.

Baptista looked like a heap of shite more often than not last year( other than the time he scored 4 in Rumbelows Cup against us), he hasnt really impressed since he was at Sevilla. Heinze's best days are probably behind him. Alonso may need a change of scenery though.

Cam Cameron of the Miami Dolphins = sacked

Bill Parcells is going to bring in his own people, thats how he works. I think he can turn them around quickly, just gutted he didnt go to the Falcons. Brian Billick getting the boot was a surprise though a 9-game losing streak is horrendous in any sport, there was a severe disiplinary meltdown and Ray Lewis did openly criticise him. So i guess i shouldnt have been so surprised

They will probabily trade Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas for a couple of draft picks, it is going to be a long rebuilding job down here.

Dont think you would get much for Zach Thomas, they will probably trade down from the #1 spot in the draft.

Yeah I'll have to get a cover, suppose you can get them cheap enough in any music shop?

How much would a set of good speakers set ya back? Have seen them from like fifteen or twenty all the way up to about a hundred, would there be much difference?

You will get a cover on Amazon or Play.com, they will have a far bigger selection than any shop.

Aye flicked thru a few sites ended up getting the classic black one off Amazon, 80-gig memory for 144quid.

Done now so no matter!

Well make sure you get a cover for it as they get scratched just from looking at it ! I wouldnt even take it out of the box until you have the cover.

Its a bit like the old "what is your favourite ice cream?" argument............ The standard of QB's is poor though outside about the top 5.

Well have just decided I wanna get an Ipod, am sick of all my mates having one and not me! Plus have been working full time hours over xmas so have a bit of spare cash and better spend it before I try to gamble it!

Any good deals or good websites that give good deals?

Cheers in advance.

You will find that most places sell the ipod at fairly similar prices, you may save a few quid by shopping around but the pricing is fairly standard for the newer ones anyway.

Of the sports I really follow Id have to go for the following shortlist:

Kaka - Soccer
Tom Brady - American Football
Kobe Bryant - Basketball
Tiger Woods - Golf
Roger the todger - Tennis

I think these are the people who are really at the top of their game in what I would class the major sports. Ive fallen away from the rugby so I cant pick a player from that code. The rest I just dont class as sportsmen. Ronnie O'Sullivan? Fernando Alonso? Just not sportsmen for me. If they are in I demand inclusion for my speed typing.

From the above list Id have to pick Tiger.

Kaka - Soccer. i watch kaka every week and alsochristiano ronaldo and although you do get the odd stroke of brilliance from kaka, christiano is at it week in week out and far more consistent... ronaldo is by far (its not even close, maybe messi would be closer) the best in the world at the minute

Tom Brady - American Football ( wouldnt disagree with you here but think peyton manning is the future of this sport. he is already breaking records. outstanding quarter back and would get my vote)

Kobe Bryant - Basketball ( i would definately vote steve nash.. for a man of his size to be so dominant in his sport, he leads the assists every year, think he has the mvp 2 maybe 3 years running and is so exciting to watch and very humble unlike kobe bryant.)

Tiger Woods - Golf (goes without saying by far the best golfer out there at the moment even when he has an off couple of days could threaten to take the competion for that week.... if he was 8 shots of the lead going into the final day you still wouldn't write him off

Roger the todger - Tennis definately his trophies speak for themselves

I went for Kaka simply because Id have him on my team ahead of the rest. Guess in my opinion that makes him the best. C Ronaldo cant lace his boots IMHO

Brady is already being mentioned in the same breath as the greats - Manning is great, but I dont think hes even close to being comparable. In terms of the greatness in their sport Brady is top dog
Bryant for me makes the game worth watching. Steve Nash is a superb player no doubting that. Maybe this is the only choice youve made that Id come close to agreeing with you on.

How can you say they are not comparable? Manning may not have the rings Brady has but he also has never had the defence. Manning will probably break every passing record by the time he retires.

There are ten players who are the only members of their nationality to have a Premiership winners' medal name them.

Yorke
Kanchelskis
Poborsky
Fletcher(?- Blackburn may have had a scot)
Giggs(?-Blackburn may have had a taff)
Schmikes

do mean since 1993? or by prem do you mean English champs?

Well Blackburn certainly had Colin Hendry

SuperSarfields......Cant take issue with any of that. Babel is worth persevering with, he is young. Players like Riise, Kewell have been there long enough and are not good enough. Voronin never was and never will be good enough.Benayoun has been ok in patches but would he get on for United, Arsenal or Chelsea? We all know the answer. I used to be a huge fan of enitez but have to say that is wavering at the minute.

He is playing out on the right wing more at the moment, Sagna is right back for Arsenal  8)

I know that but he has played the majority of his time at Arsenal as a right back, he is fast, athletic and good going forward.

Good man Minder, have a dig at the player who actually created our only goal, certainly Torres finished well but only for Finnan getting in behind the defence it wouldn't have been scored. Very disappointinmg result and Premier League is gone for the season.

I am giving my judgement, not solely on last night. He is one of the calibre of players we need to jettison if we are ever to reach the level of United and win the league. He just isnt good enough, now of course there will be one off games where he performs well (Nou Camp last year) for example.

Sorry mate but i have never heard so much brown talked in my life.  Steve Finnan consistently performs well in a Liverpool jersey, what more do you want from a right back???  Name me a right back in the premiership who is better than him??

Eboue.
