The 98 team was the better side hands down. With the exception of the drawn Down game in Healy (Brian McGuigan Centre Half Back for the first 15 minutes - what where you thinking Mickey) they won all of their games at a canter. And don't forget McGuigan missed the guts of the year with a broken collarbone. And Philly Jordan was only a sub on that side.

If I'm not mistaken Gilmore, Kerr, O'Hagan, McRory, Devlin, Cavanagh and Cassidy all are u21 again this year. The last 5 definitely are but Kerr and Gilmore I'm not 100% sure about.

86 - You don't agree that fixtures are generally a shambles ?

I can understand that Ardboe are still sore after the reserve final fiasco and that's fair enough, that was a ridiculous decision. However, I don't think the fixtures have been too bad in general this year, consistency was the one major problem. Every club can have something to cry about when it comes to fixtures this year but that's the GAA for you. Every club will try and manipulate the system to their advantage if they've got men missing. It's happened all year, and you can be certain that it will happen with Railway cup men and for a plethora of other excuses for the rest of this year. I think now that the starred game system has been consigned to the dustbin where it belongs you'll that things will run a whole lot smoother. Fair enough, you'll still be playing until Halloween but it will allow the fixtures for the year to be mapped out from start to finish with no postponements.

Big changes needed in administration in the county board ? No way !!!!!!!!

For example? Who should be gone, who should be in?

Well done to Dromore very impressive victory. They can be a serious force in Ulster if they can stay focused.
However on a negative note the organisation of the speeches, music, dancing etc was a joke!!
The break between the minor game and the senior game was far too long. The speeches etc seemed to go on forever!!
The kids playing the mini games didn't even get a mention until long after they had left the pitch by announcers who wouldn't shut up the rest of the day.
Also those non stop annoying announcements about cars etc should be stopped at Healy Park when the game is in progress.
Maybe it was fitting in some ways that at our showpiece club football event we should get a clear example of the shambolic organisation that has blighted the organisation of adult club football by the CCC for the past couple of years.
Big changes need in Administration by County Board I believe!!

Some fair enough points but it wasn't as bad as that. I've nothing to do with the county board, but as far as I'm aware, the reason for the gap was to allow for the official opening of the new facilities Healy Park. I don't think it was unreasonable of the county board to do this on the biggest day of the club footballing year, even if it prolonged the day by half an hour.

As for announcements about cars blocking exits / lost children etc etc, how else are you going to communicate that to 12,000 odd people. You'd been giving off a bigger stink if your car was locked in the graveyard car park.

How you can compare fixture problems and logistical balls ups is like comparing golf balls and speed boats.

Beefy is probably the best ref in the county, and I've nothing to do with the Newtownstewart or Omagh clubs. I'm sure he'd take great offense though, he's a Newtown man through and through.

I can't tell you how much Omagh put into the facilites but I do remember them selling tickets early this year, can't remember the ins and outs of the but it was development related if I recall correctly.

Good luck to Dromore on Sunday, I've no great gra for them, but I've less for the Fianna and in the situation I'll opt of the lesser of the 2 evils  :P

Just a thought but anyone that thinks league football is irrelevant should look at Dromore, a league title in 03 and 04 and perennial contenders for the championship since that. The Carrickmore dynasty since the mid 90s was built on 3 in a row league successes (92-94) before they won the O'Neill Cup and League double in 95.
Whilst it may not carry the same prestige as the Championship today's league is the breeding ground for tomorrow's championship winners.

counties field the next best 15 as if nothing happened.  What's the big deal?

how long would county fans and sponsors accept that before serious pressure would be brought to bear on headquarters?

In my humble opinion, the amateur status and ethos of our games is more important than winning All-Irelands. End of story. The elite players get more from the game than they lose. As Paddy Heaney said today they're chancing their hand - who wouldn't want a sports grant for playing the game they profess to love?

I agree 100% AZ, I'm sure that there'll be 30 scabs in every county without bother.

Kiddo, as a man who gives journalists and other posters stick over getting facts wrong, surely you should know that it's the CCC that gives out the suspensions now, not the GAC. And more to the point how do you know what suspension he got - I have yet to see a suspension list released so far this year.

As for your continual rants against Carrickmore, I'd say you weren't saying anything negative to Arthur McCallan about them at the September County Board meeting when you appeared to be deep in conversation with him before the meeting.

Deepest sympathies to the O'Neill family and the Brocagh club on the tragic death of Wee Jimmy.

A gentleman and a true gael.

Nothing of interest arising from the county board meeting Kiddo? You just slow this month or have you decided discretion is the better part of valor when it comes to reporting all to the masses?
