Strong team, surprised that Young is dropped, he hasnt done too much wrong in my book, but I suppose its a sign of competition for places that he is dropped. McCarthy must be playing decent stuff in training, dont think Jack would play him if he wasnt. Thought Darren O'S or Barry John Walsh would get a shot with Donaghy out. All in all a strong team and I think we'll win reasonably well

Jeez if the weather is someway decent ( or maybe even if its not) the ground could be absolutely packed to the rafters. I feel there might be a big Kerry crowd for this as most did not travel to either Longford or Cork for the last two games. Stack Park not a big stadium by any means!

Delighted for Sean Sullivan. He deserves his chance, real class act. Has been unlucky over the last couple of years not to see more action

Someone stole my name!

Yeah O'Shea's an unbelievable egomaniac, dont know why RTE Sport let him on at all, heard him on last summer talking about changing the rules of hurling and making it a 13-man game. He's insufferable

Your last few comments dublinfella are a load of rubbish. The reason most GAA clubs have excellent facilities these days is because they have shown a bit of drive and ambition which most soccer clubs haven't.

A case in point is Catlemaine Soccer club. I can think of four or five clubs in Kerry which were founded around the same time or after Castlemaine soccer club was, and each have fantastic facilities. None were given discounted handouts by the State as you seem to be implying. There are some well run soccer clubs in Kerry - Killarney Celtic and Dynamos spring to mind but Castlemaine should have got their arses years ago and done something for themselves.

I know the issue of ownership is a different argument but if M/C GAA get the field then the soccer club cant expect too much sympathy

POG, this is very, very simple. The land was bequested to the community in the 30's and the Land Commission vested it to the GAA on the basis that they maintain it as a public amenity. Thats not being disputed.

What is being disputed is whether the GAA have the right to take public land vested in their name and declare it GAA property and apply rule 44. At no point since the 30s were Gaelic games played on the pitch, to me thats key here. Its very obvious that up until recently the GAA did not consider that they had a claim here.

Its outrageous that when the GAA taking land that they did not pay for and depriving the users of it access that you claim that soccer is taking a free ride. What exactly are the GAA doing here?

dublinfella has summarised the issue fairly well here. One could make the argument though dublinfella that the field will be more benefit to the community by being exclusively run by the GAA as the community will have better facilities. The soccer club put zero money into the field and the field was probably the worst soccer field in Kerry. Badly needed to be ploughed up and levelled.

The gist of it is this. The field was donated by a family in the 30's or 40's as a community sportsfield. It was placed in the hands of 3 trustees. Two of these felt that community sportsfield basically meant GAA field and wanted it given to the GAA. The third guy felt that community sportsfield was inclusive of all sports including soccer and so basically he ensured that Castlemaine soccer club had access to the field until recently. This third man passed away about two or so years ago and after that the GAA had two trustees who felt that community sportsfiled meant GAA field and so M/C GAA were free to do what they wanted to with it.

Not sure what legal rights the soccer club have to the field. The trustees carry out the wishes of the family. If they feel that 'community sportsfield' means a GAA field, then surely thats just tough luck on the soccer club. Any solicitors lurking here?

What is Eoin Brosnans situation?

Haven't heard anything of him, you would think he'd be making an appearance by this stage, unless of course he is injured. Anyone know?

Well done Ireland!

Kidney a legend up there with the great managers I've seen in my lifetime : Alex Ferguson, Mickey Harte, Jack O'Connor, Brian Cody - all humble and very intelligent characters , think thats their secret

Great day for Irish sport - up there with Genoa 90, New York 94, Stuttgart 88, Cardiff 06, Kerry beating Cork in 91 and Kerry beating Armagh in 06!

Comhghairdicheas Eire!

Cant see MFR making any impact at this stage of his career, he is too light for the modern game and unlike Gooch was unable to develop a mean streak to him. Still he has 5 medals to his credit and is a legend around Kerry. Always had great time for him.

Would not agree with that assessment Kerry Mike. He is the dictionary definition of a 'confidence player' . I still think one good game or even him kicking a good point in a game , and we would have the genius that is Mike Frank back in business. If Mike Frank ever kicked a score early in a game, you knew he was going to have a great game. A legend

My prefs in this order would be:

Jack O'Connor- best manager we've ever had in my book

Liam Kearns- didnt like the stuff Limk played under him, very negative, but think it was more cut your cloth to suit your measure with Limk , whose forwards were very poor, discipline would improve under him too

Pat  O'Driscoll - led Ardfert in Kerry from div 5 to div 1, won kerry Junior, All ireland Junior, Kerry intermediate, All Ireland intermediate in successive seasons - phenomenal achievement

Kerry have 4, Tyrone have 3. If they had 4 each then you'd have a debate.
