Steady on cowboy, it's early days yet.

I'm amazed anyone could try to defend the Seanad as an institution, but there you go.

General discussion / Re: The Late Late show

If Tubs had the good sense to run the show like the Graham Norton Show tonight and have all his guests on at once we'd probably have gotten the Late Late's first on-screen fist fight.

Ah sure we know the Evil Empire Music industry is ruining Music!

Tell us sane music listeners something we don't know.

As for her question ''Why not give the phone in quiz money to charity?'' Sure it's a money earner for RTE from the cost of the calls. The money is raised from the calls provides the funds not sponsorship. But Tubs could not tell the general public that.

Pretty sure it's the sponsor that stumps up the prize, it's quite cheap prime-time advertisement for them.

Why the fúck is Tubs fixating on Miley Cyrus and glossing over the actually-interesting issue she's trying to talk about?

She's talking plenty of sense.

Wouldn't have to do an open draw just adjust a few provinces which would make sense Geographically. And have an even number.
Then they would be regions not provinces. Or do you envisage a Westmeath v Donegal "Connacht"(sic) Final someday?
I'm sure Carlow and Kilkenny would "love to join " the new Southern Region and still Kerry and Cork would walk to the last 8/12.
Would the sticks crowd then have different regions?
Ráiméis of the highest order as is the nonsense of an "open draw" with no Provincials.
Anyway aren't the Qualifiers a semi open nationwide draw?

No since Kk don't have a football team, Wexford or Laois could be thrown in to make it competitive.
I'm talking about Football, there is a Hurling thread for the "stick crowd"
. A stick crowd play in Leinster Hurling and another from Ulster but that is a different scenario.

You should relax though. Its only a thought.
We Connacht folks don't want any lesser breeds polluting our Championshipín.

We'd take the Larries and Offaly if we're pushed, though. Lovely lads. Want-to-be Connacht men of the highest order.

About a 30% turnout in my beautiful corner of north-west Roscommon.

At least Sinead isn't Miley Cyrus.

Mayo / Re: Mayo Club Football.
October 04, 2013, 05:34:57 PM
Mad that they use McHale Park for all quarter-finals. Same thing can happen here with the Hyde but usually only if it's a good mid-way point for two teams. Semis are invariably at the Hyde. Surely club grounds only is the way to go for the club championships in general? I can only imagine what a match like Breaffy-Ballagh would have been like in either town, or at least in a properly-sized ground. Robbing matches of their souls basically.

All the best to the Ballagh lads.

Gormley as a must be in there and cavanagh as a middle man wasn't bettered. Some strange perspectives on here

Gormley has a better chance of being the next Kildare manager than he does of winning an All-Star. Very few besides you saw anything to suggest he was at the races for one.

Boyle and Keegan are locks at HB, by the way. Doesn't matter about the mathematics of the Mayo-Dublin All-Stars. They may rob Caff of his All-Star and give it to the decidedly average (this year) Rory O'Carroll.

Antrim could defo get to an Ulster final, no real big hitters on our side of the draw, that might bring in a good manager now with a host of players making their way back

I'll be sure to tell the Donegal lads in Sligo to be on the watch-out for the Saffrons.

Ros-Mayo at the Hyde with a visit from Leitrim as a warm-up. We should do better at home than we did at McHale this year.

We'll do well just to even enter a team next yr in all competitions with the state we are in..

Time for the long-awaited Ros-Sligo Connacht championship rematch. Warm-up match in Marky Parky in the spring.

Connacht Telegraph back page TUESDAY, 01 OCTOBER 2013

http://www.con-telegraph.ie/sport/gaelic/3985-is-it-the-end-of-the-road-for-horan

It'd be a sad day for Mayo were it to come to pass. Even though I think it would be a big ask to make a third successive final Horan is clearly the best bet for Mayo next season.

Article reads like a hatchet job, though. In Larrin's immortal words it may make 'bull thick' Jamsey sign up for another full term.

Is the article author-less for a reason or is the CT's website just poorly edited?

I had heard that and thought the same Rois. Not sure what way the numbers are interpreted. Perhaps with 100s more channels on a free view, there is more comp?

Not sure.

Far less people have access to Basic cable (Which AMC is on) e.the US networks that are completely free-to-air, like BBC or ITV without the license fee. 10 million is an unreal number for Breaking Bad, up over three million on their all-time high, which was the previous episode.

Far more importantly for AMC, 6.7 million of those viewers were in the 18-49 range and the show was the most talked about on twitter all week. Breaking Bad was always driven by online, be it streaming, downloading or social media chatter.
