Thought scotstown were impressive today and they could well be one to watch in ulster this year. Good spread of forwards (which was clontibrets downfall - they only had McManus)

McManus is a class act though. He moves so smoothly and kicks very well off both feet. I hope he gets his All Star this year. Scotstown were far better as a team though, and they had some nice forwards as you say. Who was that #15? He looked fairly tidy and efficient, with a stylish left foot as well.

Conor McCarthy was the no 15.  He was the corner forward on the Monaghan minor team who showed up strongly against Mayo in the AI.  He is a very talented lad and is a real star in the making.

While McManus probably should get an all-star I doubt he will. They would have needed to get to the AI semi at least (with him performing well on the day)

McCarthy was the standout Monaghan performer on a minor team that didn't do themselves justice on the day against mayo - scored a cracking goal and a few lovely points. I think he has only just started playing senior as well. A bright future ahead of him.

Didn't see the game yesterday but was impressed with McCarthy playing with Monaghan Minors. Do you reckon he will be drafted into the Senior Panel next year or has he another year Minor?
Don't think he's a minor next year and I suppose the old "if you're good enough you're old enough" rule applies. A full forward line of himself, hughes and McManus next year would be as good as anything else in Ulster

2 of the 3 ladies games changed they day when teams went down to 14 men, is the black card for a deliberate cynical foul next year not better enforced if the player carded does a 10 min in the sinbin giving the opposing team the advantage, and hence eliminate teams trying foul means to win out!

Good point but it creates its own problems. I only saw the senior game and the yellow was extremely harsh particularly in the context of some of the other tackling that was going on. Its a great rule when the ref gets it right but as we saw today that wont always be the case

QuoteThats harsh. firstly the free should have been brought forward as a cork defender kicked the ball away to waste time. Secondly the defender was 7 years max away from the free taker and the ref did nothing.

This is true. However, a Maurice Fitzgerald, Oisin McConville or Stephen Cluxton would have nailed it anyway.

QuoteThe cork girls knew themselves but the dopey umpire still waved his flag. Do they even know the rules. Luckily common sense prevailed and the ref intervened

What are umpires actual instructions in this case?

At the risk of upsetting the fairer sex is it fair to compare with marice Fitz? Besides 40 meters against the wind is hardly a gimmie

QuoteAnd to be fair there's been some lovely scores in this game

Cork missed a couple of easy ones they might need.

But Monaghan missed the real pressure shot!

speaking of poor officials cork got a goal from a direct fisted attempt (she was probably trying for a point). Half the Monaghan team waved it away. The cork girls knew themselves but the dopey umpire still waved his flag. Do they even know the rules. Luckily common sense prevailed and the ref intervened

True but that's balanced by the soft peno in the first half

Soft? You tackle a man further out the pitch around the neck its a foul and yellow.  No different in the wee square

Dont Matter. .you're some pollution sir

Maybe not the game of the decade, but right up there

a charge with the shoulder into his chest. Anywhere else on the pitch is a free to the defender

justice is done. Ref gave kerry +5 and it wasn't enough. Thats a serious squad Dublin have

hopefully the ref can keep out of it now - he's done enough harm
