For those who reckon that these fines and bans were too much for the clubs involved, what would they suggest?

i actually think they got off lightly, gaa is now all over you tube in the wrong light, the whole world is watching it, so anything that will attempt to deter people can only be a good thing.

Who released the video into the public domain? Shouldnt they get some sort of ban for bringing the game into disrepute? The reason why this story has become such a media junket is because of the ill grace of the team that lost the game. There are many examples of worse behaviour than what happened that day which have led to less or no suspensions and until the GAA has a consistent approach to these incidents they will continue to happen. Slapping a few suspensions willy nilly on a small club on the cusp of an all ireland final is not going to deter anyone in the future. Good luck to Derrytresk in the final - hope they can pull it off against all the odds!

:D some statement

What super powers would Clipboardman have ??

He can throw his clipboard very accurately from distance like that big Japanese lad that was always after James Bond.
The clipboard also has a waterproof cover although I'm not sure if that's strictly a super power.

That's outrageous. OddJob was Hawai'an.
In derry that means a child

lol true, in da city it sounds lik wine

Looking at the slo-mo I think its fair to say that 4 and 5 from Dromid were amongst the chief instigators of the melee. Every Derrytresk man who jumped the fence for whatever reason should have no business playing in Croke Park in the All Ireland final. 3 months suspension at least. The fella in the hood who decks the Dromid number 9 should be getting at least a year's suspension and could easily be facing criminal charges. Number 11 from Derrytresk could also be in serious trouble, he appears to bend down from a standing position to at least attempt to strike the Dromid number 5 as the Kerry man lies on the floor.

I must say I disagree with the suggestion that Derrytresk should be thrown out of the competition. These things have happened in my own club and I've always been of the view that punishing those who have no part in the violence is very inequitable. And yes, there is also often an element of closing ranks within a club. We have independent evidence here and it should be used to punish the perpetrators.

yea and he shit himself after it n ran of

http://bit.ly/z6bcRU Brawl is online.

Doesn't look good with the benches cleared, but looks like the footage misses most of what was supposed to have sparked the brawl.

Could argue that Dromid no. 4 swinging at Derrytresk management sparked it. But looks bad for a few Hill men.

18 secs into footage-the punch n run routine..hwd Derrytresk not get a man sent off?
30 vs 5, no competition there

If a county board and manager are willing to accept a player from another county and it's within the rules (in the future) then let the player and the county board deal with the morality of it between them. Sure half of Tyrone play for Derry.

who?

I remember that incident, far be it for me to agree with anyone for Tyrone but I think he is right, it was a cynical challenge deserving of a red card.

+1  should of been a red card, tryone would of won and the ulster final could of,dare i say it, been exciting

Is there any limit to the number of teams who can regrade.
For instance, could 4 or 5 teams who are not at the level of cross just drop down to intermediate.
Does the number of teams in the Armagh SFC change from year to year.

That begs the question: should they all be intermediate except cross?

wel that would mean just handing the armagh championship 2 cross...oh wait they do that anyway.. ;D

I am able to watch Soccer Saturday on RTE, through Sky.

When did this change?

Noticed the same thing the other week when watching the champions league and was able to view RTE's coverage. great shout imo. No clue as to why the change though.

would it be due to digital changeover?

IMO referees should give interviews after televised games. For non-televised games i think referees should compile a write up(along with their report) of any decisions they make and their reasoning while also including any mistakes they think they have made. This should then be forwarded to both clubs concerned a couple of days after the game, when the referee has time to review the game, if recorded.

I think this could go some way to preventing the scenes in yesterdays game, and indeed games in other counties in recent weeks. This may not work, but in relation to live games, if a referee was interviewed immediately after the game, this may stop many spectators from surrounding the ref.

any thoughs? would it work in 90% of the games that aren't live?would a ref admitting a mistake solve matters?

What about Madoff and MF Global? Was that 'half' down to the laziness of the poor as well? AIG? Bear Sterns & Lehmans and the 100 odd other banks that have closed in the States in the last 3 years?

How does all this stop anybody getting of their arse and getting a job?

If there were 40 jobs going, and 300 apply for them, are 260 people that dont get a job lazy?
but are there only 40 jobs going? Or only 40 jobs going that you would actually do? Meanwhile there are another 300 jobs that you wouldn't lower yourself to do..... that are being snapped up by other Eastern Europeans and other Internationals prepared to come to Ireland and do whatever it takes....

hardly call this a reasonable argument, that anyone that doesnt have a job is lazy, plus when you use phrases like 'Lower yourself to do' suggests you are of the opinion that you are better than people who work in bars etc
