UUJ v MTU Cork live on facebook https://www.facebook.com/HigherEdGAA/

0:7 - 0:4 at HT
UUJ very wasteful - should have the match won already given how much of the ball they have had.
MTU Cork look very limited.
Unless something dramatic happens UUJ will win this.
If they want to go further will have to sharpen up their forward play.

Whats the story with UUJ they seems to have some panel of players every year is it the same this year.
Strong, 10 tyrone men on the pitch at a stage and canavan wasnt one of them. Galligan midfield and Glass to come back for the business end

The smell of £$£$. Simple as.
Would defintely agree with this about past teams containing cillian o connor, andy moran etc but this teams largely based around tyrones u20 success a few years back. Mckernan and Galligan the 2 household names thus far to have featured.

Jesus there's some dung talked here. Remember when Canavan had got the Down job but it was all hush hush  ;D
As I posted in November, now reported in Gaelic Life about Canavan with Portlegnone.

Apparently they don't have a leg to stand on
Quite a gather up for a club team

Who are the big hitters in the competition wise, UUJ star studded as usual?

I wouldn't say so, I've seen them a few times, but on the day these teams can spring results
Can spring a couple of stars as well, know Glass, mckernan and canavan all at UUJ. Not sure of other big individual names at colleges outside clifford

Na gaeil we're junior 2019. I just think they are team on up. 4th strongest team in Tralee
Won the Junior Championship whilst in Senior League, now on for a repeat in intermediate. Only means of promotion in Kerry is through a Championship win.

You'd imagine a very second string will play this first game?

Has to be. A few senior players didn't attend the trip, McCurry, Pete Harte, Paul Donaghy jump to mind
You'd imagine they will start along with the newcomers who played the charity game v Armagh.
Paudie McNulty could be available too.

Up to 11 subs allowed so I'd guess some more familiar faces will be introduced to the game as it goes on.

Cormac Munroe did not attend either. Paul donaghy has left the squad.

Why is donaghy away?
Understandable, season of a lifetime followed by not much football the following year.

Yeah but the 'following year' included winning an Ulster Championship, winning a Celtic Cross and playing in Croke Park in the AI final. Not exactly a bad year.
By no means a bad year but from a personal point of view, i'd imagine he values the medal which he contributed to in the way he did more. Believe management have told students to play for Universities in McKenna cup so more familiar faces on show tomorrow and less debutants you'd think.

Universities aren't in the McKenna Cup?
Apologies, *Sigerson*

Moortown be dissapointed with how yesterday went, players will no doubt have regrets with the system the management opted to play. If it ain't broke....

Hmmmmm. Moortown have been playing that way all year with success (like it or loath it) They beat us convincingly in R2 of the Championship with exactly that style. We must of had 80% of the possession for the first quarter but then they started to break and reaped great rewards with the counter attack and long ball to Devlin. They got well ahead of us and then opened up a bit more and had us beat well before the final whistle.

They just ran out of luck with the tactics - maybe that style of play is more suited to better conditions or they just came up against a better team. They have had a great year (got to Ulster Final when not many would have gave them a chance of winning Tyrone in the summertime) so fair play to them
No doubt they played similarly this year but they usually transition extremely fast, players had the handbrake on yesterday and didn't counterattack like they did vs Kildress. Undoubtedly a successful year though. Fairplay

Kerry and any other county can and should be able to do what they want with their club championships.

There is absolute integrity in All Ireland Senior club championship. The winner of that competition is the best club team in the land. No ambiguity.

But there is way too much grading inconsistency across the entire country, not only Kerry, for the Intermediate & Junior club championships to have much real meaning beyond a few extra days out for the parish.

And you'll never consolidate these grading inconsistencies because 32 different counties have 32 different sets of factors determining the optimum structure of their internal club championships.

Don't lose sight of the fact that these competitions are novelties. A nice extended victory lap for the clubs that come out on top in their home county. But they shouldn't be taken too seriously, and it's nuts to think any county is shaping their internal competitions just to find an edge here.
Try telling those who come up against the kerry teams that its a day out for the parish/novelty. Shouldnt be taken seriously? Heard it all

Certainly no confusion regarding the Kerry system. Gerrymandered to deliver an unfair weighting into the AI club series. Their use of the "novice" grade is part of the sham. They should be made to recalibrate so that Sen/Int county champs play off with the winner entering the Munster Senior Club, Kerry Junior Champs enter Munster Intermediate and Kerry Novice Champs enter Munster Junior
Year upon year kerry "senior"clubs win junior and intermediate all ireland success.
