Tyrone will win because tyrone always beat Monaghan when it matters!

Main Street, I haven't being using this site for too long but in the short time that I have I've noticed you are obsessed with all things Tyrone. You're like a fella that's jealous of the success we've had in recent times. Grow up!

Your correct golden years carrickmore have a very strong minor team this year as I pointed out in a previous post. I'm also pleased to see our minors are well in contention of making the league quarter finals, despite taking a drubbing from Carrickmore in the opening game. They have beaten Cappagh, Loughmacrory, Omagh and loss narrowly to Errigal since then. People did question why they were playing grade 1 football after that first game, but as I said, id be quite happy picking up 2 or 3 wins in grade 1 against stronger opposition than winning grade 2. This will have brought them on a lot more than playing grade 2 football.

He wasn't charged so I see no need to do that. The Subday World is a shameless paper, he was questioned last year but they time their story coincidentally around the Adam Johnson conviction. If he was charged then I would say get rid but on this evidence I don't think it's warranted.

As far as I can read into it, he was questioned and the case has been passed on to the prosecutor so he may still be charged. Whether true or not, the fact that it's another unsavoury scandal with McCarron doesn't bode well and this is an extremely sinister thing he has been accused of.

Typical of us here in Ireland, kick a man when's he's down.

I know its often the way with minor teams that a lot fall by the wayside but that list seems hard to believe.

So do you think McKenna will make it this year? Like his dad he was a good fielder of the ball but seemed a bit slow or had no urgency from what I remember.

What about the big Omagh lad Grugan. Will he be back or has he gone too?
Will this Conlan lad make it this year? He looked good in the McKenna cup but haven't seem much of him since.

I know it's only March but who would your best 15 be at the moment?

I don't know what McKenna cup games you were at but I was at all of them and Conlan was v. poor, would have been one of the ones after the campaign I'd have looked at and said "didn't take his chance, he'll be one to go when the cut is made".

I believe Conlon has already been dropped from the panel along with Patrick Quinn.

Well my point is that now is the time to look at Hampsey and HP in a competitive environment....rather than waiting until McCrory/McCarron/McNamee get injured and you have to throw them in untested? Not knowing if they are up to it.....
Big difference playing O'Fiach/McKenna Cup and League/Cship. In fairness Harte does like to hold on to guys for the in house games....

I'd like to think Hampsey is assessed in a competitive environment every night at training. Every night these boys go out they're going to be marking the likes of mcurry/skeet/cavanagh/o'neill/bradley/brennan/ - if it was clear in training that Hampsey was doing a better job against these lads than McCrory or McCarron then surely its mad to think that he wouldn't be making the team. Bear in mind that these are top class Tyrone forwards which are better than anything else he'd face in Division 2.

Hampsey is obviously a great prospect with huge potential but in a couple of games he's started to date - Antrim and Derry - i thought he looked a wee bit exposed at times. Obviously that's to be expected in his first few games in a Tyrone shirt but it also shows that he doesn't have a divine right to be starting every game right away.

Finally, if Tyrone win this weekend then that'll be them assured of promotion to Division 1. They'll then have two remaining dead rubber games in Division 2 and I'm sure the likes of Hampsey, Munroe, Hugh Pat etc will all get their chance in these games.

What's all this about Hugh Pat not getting a chance. He started against Antrim and got man of the match, started the McKenna cup final against Derry, came on a half time of the Galway game (Harte was very complementary towards him afterwards) and started the Laois game. Hampsey has made 5 appearances. I think Micky Harte is giving the new men plenty of game time.

Anybody have any clue when we can expect the fixtures to be announced and when we can expect to hear the championship draw?

Curious also of manager updates, there was a lot of blank spaces in the last manager post.  Surely all clubs now have a manager appointed for the coming season????

this is the middle of the NFL 'county' season - do you think our county board are concerned about our clubs - not a chance...

I see plenty of young lads asked to play 2 games in 24 hours plus extra time in very difficult winter conditions in order to start our minor league which will finish on 3rd April  ??? ??? - and then they talk about burnout !!

On the same note I see 3 games in Section 1B were very 1 sided. Chatting to one of our the minor management last night he stated that the Pomeroy Management Wanted to play Grade 2 this year but the county board turned their request down.  How is this meant to benefit the Pomeroy lads? Or even our lads who i am sure would rather have a bit of a contest.

The management may well have wanted to play grade 2 football, however this same group of Pomeroy lads won the grade 2 under 14 championship four years ago, which suggests they should be playing grade 1 football. I do take your point that Carrickmore beating them by 18 points does them no good however am I right in saying the same group of Carrickmore lads won the under 16 double which also suggests they are very strong? If we could pick up two or three wins in grade 1 against stronger teams it would benefit us better than playing in grade 2.

HP McGeary is a much better option than McCrory. He is very physically strong, never stops running and can take a point into the bargain.

You would like to think all county players can kick a point from easy opportunities.

You would aye, but your the man that said McCrory cant even kick a ball. you'd like to think all county players could kick a ball.

No surprise that Corrigan is getting big money as he gets it wherever he goes plus some extras according to reports - got a car at a previous club for winning a championship.

Also hearing reports that the Securicor van will be needed at the Plunketts to take the cash Harte & O'Donnell are seemingly getting. Are these not the two lads walked away from Tullylish because they knew they were going to get hammered in Div1 in Down ????

I wouldn't give two sh**es if Harte and o'donnell walk so long as they get us to division one. I believe it would be easier to get the four wins to stay up in div 1 than get promotion out of div 2

I can't agree with that at all. Firstly, I believe this was first year that -8 points got you relegated if in 13th place in div1. Normally third from bottom needs 10/11 points to get the play off spot. Trillick got relegated on 12 two seasons ago I think but in normal seasons you certainly need double figures to have a chance of survival. The target mark is always 11/12 points

Secondly, I am sure the Plunketts would be delighted if they go up but annoyed if their management walked away - that wouldn't show much trust or belief in the capability of the club or playing squad if the management didn't stay for div1 campaign

Whether it takes 4 or 5 wins to stay up I still believe that would be more managable than gaining promotion out of division 2, especially as teams tend to throw points towards the end of the season.

For the record, it is you that is speculating they could leave if they achieved promotion, not me. Talk of promotion at this stage is crazy, more so due to the fact we have continuously failed to deliver with the undoubted potential in the squad.

So after all the time wasting the Rock are gone! From the sounds of it they put up a good fight so fair play on that front.

Lough v Owen Res will be interesting - I think Lough will get it tight to beat OR but the long lay off might not have done OR any good. It would be a hammer blow to Lough if they went down considering they were so close to not being involved in playoffs at all.

Glad to see the Rock relegated, lets hope Loughmacrory follow suit. Would be a welcome change to have a new team up in Division 2 next year.
