f**king terrible news about Ollie.  I was really hoping that both himself and Joe would be there for the championship.  I wish him well in his retirement.  He has been probably our most outstanding hurler over the past 7 or 8 years and one of the few that would walk onto any county team.

I would probably put my money on either Dublin or Tyrone to win it out this year.  However, going for Tyrone is dependent on Brian McGuigan getting himself back to at least 85% of what he produced 2 years ago.  He WAS / IS the key man in that tyrone team.

Michael Kiernans dropped goal v England at Lansdowne Rd in 1985 to win the Triple Crown.  Absolute Magic and has to be up there with some of the greatest sporting moments.  Apologies for not including a picture of same...........................

GAA Discussion / Re: McGuigan's Injury

I sincerely hope that the manner in which these two great players are being treated is untrue.  I know the Indo prints alot of shite, but usually it comes from other quarters and not Magee.  I was of the opinion that Tyrone was one of the best counties for looking after their top players, obviously I was wrong.  I cannot believe that the county board or Club Tyrone have not intervened here with some sort of compensation for the two lads.  This type of shite treatment of players simply should not have to be tolerated in this day and age, be it either county stars or ordinary club players.  Have any of our Tyrone posters any "inside" word on whats happening with these lads...................?

I would have thought BT7 that a man of your vast GAA knowledge would have recognised a former AI medal winner !

Sean O'Domhnaill is the guy you are ranting on about there in your last post !  Won an AI in 1998 with Galway playing alongisde Kevin Walsh at midfield.  I dont watch the current series of the underdogs but I would imagine half the reason that he is there is because he is a fluent irish speaker and he also does some analysis work for TG4 on their televised club matches.

From this side of the fence I would have to say the top 3 in order would probably be Nallen, McHale & K Mortimer.

I'm surprised the likes of Jimmy Burke, Tony Morley, Jarlath Jennings, Greg Maher etc have failed to be mentioned so far  ;)

Probably either Ja or PJ but I must admit that I always had a huge amount of time for Tomas Mannion.  He had some massive games for Galway but I always feel that backs dont get the same amount of credit as forwards generally do.  Outstanding performances at corner back in '98 and centre back in '01.

Feck it, I was hoping they would give it another year as both are just about the 30 mark.  Both have been outstanding servants to Galway over the past 10 years and definitely 2 of the best ever to don the Galway Jersey.  Thanks for everything lads, ye leave us some wonderful memories  :)

Ah jaysus GalwayBB, I've been trying to get forget about that Savage/Joyce incident for the past 6 years.  At least they made up for it in 2001  :)

Loughrea will probably make the final after a very close battle with Cushebdall but based on what I have seen of them in the championship so far this year, i do not think that they have the forward power to win out overall.  The other side of the draw is very tough but for me its between Ballyhale & Mount Sion.

The football is wide open and very difficult to pick a winner this far out.  I'll reserve judgement until a few more have fallen away................... :)

GAA Discussion / Mayobridge ?????

Whats the story with Mayobridge ?  I thought they were a decent side.  Is Down club football that poor or was todays game just a freak result ??

I'd be happy enough with the addition of Warren and O'Donnellan to the senior setup.  Warren has done it before and I'd expect O'Donnellan is a shrewd enough operator having guided Salthill to club glory.  Cant believe Bunty is in the running for the U-21 job  :-\

Good result for Corofin today and surprisingly its St Bridgets they will meet in the final as they beat Crossmolina easily enough today.  Bridgets must have improved as they were v v poor in the Connacht Final against Salthill last year.  I believe J O'Mahoney is involved there at some level.  I would still expect Corofin to edge that one and setup a tought semi versus one of the northern clubs.
