In fairness to Lillis he has a very decent record as a club manager in Laois, Carlow and kildare. Is it true that Kavanagh was alongside him for these and why was it that Kavanagh didn't get involved with the Laois gig?

Parkison, speaking from his own personal experience, said all along that Lillis was the wrong man for the job. Fair enough he's working in media now which is self serving but he's never hid behind anything and has always called it as he's seen it.
He has been barking on about the age of the core of the team for a good while now and that it will go to waste if we don't make the right appointment.
It's nothing new from him if anyone has been listening to what he's been saying the past while.

The likes of Quigley, Begley, Healy etc will be gone soon and a poor appointment might mean they depart sooner rather than later.

Sugrue has a decent track record so why not go with what the players want if that is the case.

'welcomehome', welcome to the forum however can you cease from using the 'text speak'. Just take a bit more time when you're posting to spell the word correctly, use a few capitals and the odd comma and full stop. Doesn't have to be perfect just near enough.

Other than that all is good.

Who put you in charge?!

I ain't the chief, just commenting on a football forum like everyone else and my eyes ache trying to read posts like that!

Taking championship games out of O'Moore park has been mentioned more than once here before. again it's up to club delegates to raise the issue a county board meetings so it can be debated.

It would certainly be far better from an atmosphere point of view. When was the decision made to play all games in O'Moore Park initially?

Laois / Laois GAA website
July 19, 2016, 12:12:20 PM
The website still has team news for the Armagh game in their main news section. Despite having county fixtures and results section there is nothing there.
Over the weekend their were developement squads in action with not a word anywhere. Over the last few weeks we had the celtic cup hurling and again no coverage at all on the website.
How difficult would it be for someone to gather the data and info from respective managers, coaches or reporters if they were there and put the info on the site.
The website is almost a mirror for the interest in LAoois GAA at the moment. You would get more info about Laois teams from other county sites.
It reflects badly on the county board and surely it would benefit the younger players to be able to see some photos or reports from their games.
A very poor effort by whoever is in charge of it. We are so far down the technology road at this stage and we cannot update our official website.

Did Ross announce his intercounty retirement? Maybe I missed that.

Alot of lads jumping the gun on this one.

It's up to club delegates to bring it to the county board so it can be debated robustly. The main aim has to be the betterment of the county team which will mean more revenue which will ultimately benefit all clubs.
The senior team is the flagship so their success will filter down meaning more kids wanting to get involved whether by playing the game or attending matches.
The divisional team should happen, keeping the integrity of the local club and providing a higher standard of club football for players and supporters alike.
Any club members on this site should be pushing for change at club level. If that doesn't happen we may forget about it.

What would be the list of teams and amalgamations DTR?

They split the league this year based on standings so could easily be done with championship if the will was there. Do the same as the hurling and call it Senior A and Senior B if clubs don't like the idea of being intermediate.

Best of luck to the team today and those of you travelling down. Meanwy and Walsh will be disappointed not to be starting but two good lads to bring on. In fairness hey're probably better suited to that role.

It's probably going stale a bit and would benefit from a shake up. The retirement of so many senior players and the unavailability of Keenan certainly didn't help this year and if we're being honest we probably peaked with the result against Offaly in championship last year. Our results have been very poor this year.
Also, to see Offaly contesting the U21 final, a group of players that Laois have been beating for the past few years is hard to take. Fair enough they lost in the end but gave a decent account of themselves.
The whole Cheddar situation is bitter sweet because he has done so much while he has been there and it will be our loss if he is lost to Laois hurling. If he goes as senior manager he has to be retained in some capacity. He has the right vision for LAois hurling and all he is interested in is Laois getting back up to being competitive with the bigger counties. There is no reason that we cannot be more equipped at senior level with the right set up and coaching. Maybe Cheddar could be involved in a role overseeing under age developement and coaching, a sort of director of hurling role as the hurling community has a lot of respect for the man and he will do his best to get funding etc from the GAA for the county. He definately has to stay involved in my opinion.
