Would you stand for God save the Queen if you could avoid it?

Was at the friendly against Blighty at Lansdowne Road in 2015 and made a point of sitting on my fat hole during it ... but then again, I'm not neutral either

Obviously playing numbers must be top of the list. There are clubs in Dublin that field over 90 teams across the male and female games. And that is still after a significant loss of players in the teenage years. Financially Dublin cannot be matched. However they are beatable as long as you dont do Mayo on it and give them two goals

Enjoyed Lincoln game this afternoon, took me back to when the cup was something special. Hope they get a really big draw now.

Southamptons attitude to it this evening is crazy, I've not heard of most of their players, mid table in Prem not gonna make top 6 not gonna be relegated, play a decent team for f**k sake.. 3 down after 30 mins against an understrength Arsenal..

Arsenal at 11/10 for away win was the banker of the weekend. Southampton have their Wembley date booked and are happy with that. Lack of ambition. Mid table club, always was always will be

If the clubs actually had a will to fulfil fixtures all summer long, a will "to get on with it", then much of the current malaise would go away.

Nail on head.
Absolutely. Let the county boards tell the clubs play or forfeit. Tell county managers that they are not going to postpone games to suit him and disrupt everyone else.
We have the situation where clubs are playing vital promotion and relegation playoffs in late November and early December. The players and supporters would far prefer games in good weather on a Saturday evening, Sunday or a midweek evening if suitable.
Every club has a delegate to the Divisional board and County board. Let them do their job in the clubs interest

a certain mayo player has a car from Dacia and it broke down in a field in Roscommon last sunday before the match and had half the Carpark/field pushing it , It wasn't even a year old.
not the image they are going for I suspect though every did notice the Car

Then of course Mayo players havd a bit of history when it comes to pushing cars around car parks

Be interesting to see how they'll manage the tailback of cars trying to get off the M50 when there's a big match on.

Driverless cars. There won't be any traffic  ;)

25K, it must only be for club fixtures, underage county games and the odd National league outing for the hurlers..
And Leinster hurling games involving Laois Offaly etc

When all Connacht is amalgamated ( at the same time as Dublin is split) we can sell Pearse, McHale and Markievicz. Develop the Hyde with 25,000 seats and 25,000 capacity terrace.
Pàirc Sheàin can be used for League games.

Sorry to say this but Mayo and Galway will always have their own teams.

Markievicz should have been sold years ago. Not fit for purpose (no training/warmup area) and impossible to develop. Poorly served for parking also.

and its in a soccer town, maybe rovers could buy it. with the tiny soccer pitches they'd have room to develop
Would there be enough room for the regular 359 supporters Sligo Rovers get?

St Jude's in Dublin probably the smallest, less than 100,000 nearby :-)

Ha ha. Within two miles of Judes you have Templeogue Synge st, Boden St Endas, Thomas Davis, St Marks, St Annes, Ballyboden Wanderers, Ballinteer St Johns, St Kevins, Crumlin and Robert Emmets. But even with those clubs there is room for more and it just shows the potential in Dublin. In addition there is little travelling involved compared to teams in Cork Galway etc

Do the people in the North really believe that the South ever had the military capacity to enter and take over the six counties? It would have led to two events. 1. The British would have come back and whipped the souths arse 2. The loyalists would have reacted with a fetocity that would have led to civil war. The facts are that up to joining the EEC Ireland was a economically backward country entirely dependant on the British market. We could hardly feed ourselves and certainly could not finance a military operation aimed at taking over the six counties and holding a million unionists against their will.

As regards fathers coaching teams with their son playing I recall under 14 with my son. I was a selector coach etc. I know he didnt like it but no one else would do it. In any case in one game he retaliated against a lad who hit him a slap. He got the red card. After the game I had to address the team about the red carx and keeping discipline. I told them that Mike was wrong to retaliate and that the referee was in charge of dishing out punishment. I also said that if I ever saw any of them taking abuse from an opponent and not defending themselves I would take them off. The son and I were tge best of buddies afterwards

Thats easy managed compared to the Ennis rd or getting to Pairc Ui Chaoimh

From my experience the majority of these outside managers etc dont deliver the goods but it just more of the shite that goes on. If the players fork out this cash then they deserve what they get

Of course too there can be a big difference in the physical build up of a lad born in January and a lad born in December.  I think once kids hit 12 you have to have competition. But getting around player loss is difficult. Kids will have some many distractions and all the good underage coaching could be wasted. Of course many parents just use gaa nurseries as their babysitter on a Saturday morning while they go off for brunch. I don't know how many times I've seen the car pull up, back door open and little Johnny hop out with his gear bag and away the car goes.

Heading to Breaffy House for 4 days over the 12th July week, but we'd like to go somewhere else for 3-4 days further down the country open to all suggestions. 3 youngsters 8, 4, and 1 to cater for. Any recommendations?
Westport house, few small attractions for kids.
Clare Island day trip
Newport to Mulranney greenway
Achill Island

Thank for the tips on things to do Ballinaman, what i was really after is location + accommodation recommendations further south e.g. Cork, Waterford, Wexford that would be family friendly.

East Cork. Good beaches at Youghal Red Barn Ballycotton area. Fota Island is close by. Trabolgan for a day trip. It might be good for accommodation but not sure on prices. It is a short run to Cork city as well
