Do you all remember this time last year we were discussing the very high scoring national league and the suggestion was that the black card rule was creating more open defences?? Or was it just because there were only two Ulster sides in division one?

I like the zonal idea a la netball. There must be 4 players in the offensive 45 at all times. An easy rule to introduce and monitor and it would stretch the game. I think anything is worth a try because at the moment it's terrible to watch!

yes good idea that

This idea of keeping 4 players in an attacking zone is pure nonsense. It's not easy to implement or monitor, imagine controlling that in a Div 3 league club match. So during a game a player races out to pick up a ball and has to stop as he reaches the edge of the zone? That's just unworkable.

Come on beny u will have to think a bit harder than that son. think a bit about it and don't just jump the gun.

Made the journey to Ballybofey yesterday,  bleak situation Mickey finds himself in with only a few short weeks to revisiting Donegal on the same sod again.  Hard to envisage the tables getting turned with a Tyrone win in May.  On the face of things it seemed we lacked any type of strategy, at best it was haphazzard. There seemed no plan on how to break down the 15 man Donegal blockade, certainly nothing new about Donegals game plan in last 4 years.  Our counter attack lacked pace, precision and cutting edge, it was laboured, predictable and Donegal could easily choke our attack to death.  70-80% of Donegal scores came from over-turned ball on a Tyrone attack.  We seemed extremely weak in the tackle and certainly there appeared no spear head for our forward attack. The forward fist pass process to the full forwards wasnt possible against the Donegal defensive blockade.  It would have taken a sonar device on the ball to make its way into them.  I wonder if Tyrone would have opted for some height within their Full Forward line and test an 'isolated' Donegal full back line, by whipping quick and fast high diagonal ball into the scoring zone on the counter attack,  it might have yielded something, at a minimum the high ball would have cut out at least 12 defenders if nothing else.  Mickey and his back room staff find themselves again in dark waters,  I sincerely hope he can turn this one around as it will be extremely hard to stomach another defeat to Donegal in Ballybofey in a few weeks time.

yeah it wasn't good, reminded me of the monaghan game. we recovered after that so the Kerry game should be a great battle. I wouldn't totally write the team of yet. if Kerry beat us by 10/11 points next week then I would be worried.  they were very well organised and are near experts at this defenisive game. they continually fouled/stopped tyrone out the field in second half when we had the wind, and stopped the man taking a quick free until they got organised, whether it was by holding onto the mans hand after the whistle was blew or simply tapping the ball away a few yards, it all helps.id say they are the most cynical team ive seen.mcquillan never caught onto any of this but in fairness u need help from linesmen and umpires which never happened. even a man taking a free for a score they were roaring at him as he was takin the free which def isn't allowed. to put matty in fullforward in the second half just didn't work. ronan oneill should have stayed on, maybe he was injured. im sure he would have kicked a few in the second half. justy was the only player that came out of it with any credit. McCarron tried hard as did McNamee. at least the lads know nothing but a 9/10 performance from them all in 8 weeks time will get us over the line.

Will we do away with the blanket for the champ match. I think we should. Go man to man and push up on them up the field. It will take a furious workrate by the forwards and if we can get ahead of them early on they will have to come out and attack. Your only playing into donegals hands by playing a defensive game in ballybofey

Think title should be changed to Who will stop Mayo 2015? The ship has sailed! We are now behind Galway (with the emergence of Corofin) and Roscommon (flying in Division 2). Last year both Connacht teams were unlucky not to beat us. Kerry last year showed us that we are going backward beating us well in both games and extra time. O' Shea and O'Connor were almost non existent for the second half of the second game in Limerick. We failed to adapt to Cormac Reilly in the Limerick game. A wiser team would have seen that basket ball non contact rules applied in this game to both O'Donaghue and Donaghy. This is where Liam McHale would have come to the fore as he understands the full court press of basketball and would have cancelled Cormac Reillys influence. Luckily if we do by some miracle get to a AI semi final and it does go to a replay, the replay will be in Croker. I'm not sure how i know this, lets call it intuition.  This will save time that management would other wise have to devote to friendlies in Leinster provincial grounds to cover this anomaly. You have to cover these anomalies if you have AI aspirations (you know). Our squad is weak, there are no cover for nearly all positions. No new blood has been found. We have no marquee forwards. We have no forwards. No place kickers. No way of getting scores (really!). Look at the stats over the last couple of years. Managements record is very weak! What has Pat Holmes won? A county title, a Connacht club title, a league title and a under 21 AI title. Nothing to write home about. We are on a spiral and there is nothing we can do about it bar watch from a near. So what does the year ahead hold? A loss probably to Galway if not a loss to Roscommon, if not a loss to Tyrone, if not a loss to Dublin, and if not another inevitable loss to Kerry in the AI final!

That's 1 thing you look forward to when things aren't going well in tyrone. You can always rely on mayo to cheer you up as they will always be having a shitty time than you

Allow only one player to tackle the player in possession.

I would be in favor of something along these lines.

sure thats the rule at the minute ffs

Who was the Donegal man who kept running onto the pitch. blonde hair and yellow boots. must have been on the pitch at least 15 times. I was watching the Donegal players reaction to him and it is obvious they have little or no time for him or his observations. funnily there was a few times play passed through him as he got that caught up in the whole thing.

A great result for tyrone and a blessing in disguise come championship time

yeah it doesn't make sense to ask clubs to send 3 players to trials but then for them to decide whether they should be picked for the squad. surely take the clubs word and train them up. if that's the way it is some clubs wont have any representation. maybe its not gona work like  that, we will wait and see.

good suggestion there ose, develop them all. couldn't cost that much

yes benny was in charge in and around 2008/09 time I think. it wasn't a success nor was it a failure either if I mind right. id say the players prob let him down possibly a bit.

as for the dev squad omagh gael the main change will be doing away with the name "dev squad", and players training in their club colours. before clubs sent who they thought should go and I think this will prob be the same. if clubs were smart they would send the worst players and try to develop them, as the good player will already be getting good coaching at school and will come through anyway. im sure there was plenty of good coaching done all along up in garvaghy. benny wouldn't be a man id think would like to be told what to do so it will be very interesting to see how it goes.

id like to see him coach a few of them how hit the way he did 8)

any plumbers on here. large tank in attic (cold water) seems to be constanley flowing, although a very light flow. When I push the ball c**k up fully it lessens the flow but only slightly. Do I need a new ball c**k or will the washer just need replaced. Where do I turn of the supply to the tank. Under the kitchen sink?
