No upset from Ballymena. Missing a couple of key players did not help.
Who were they missing?

I think I remember a time on this board when Slaughtneil were not thought very highly of by many Derry posters. They were often described (at least, I inferred) as an uncooth bundle of scummy hoors with a history of indiscipline.
Then, upon winning Derry championships, this dislike died a death, replaced with "the darlings of Ireland" - a community we should all aspire to. And probably fairly so.
I wonder is it a case of Slaughtneil people being grand as long as they're winning or are people waiting to jump back on the hate bandwagon as soon as they lose.
People are jumping on the bandwagon.  In the Ireland of today, Slaughtneil people are as Gaelic as they come, from hunger strike support to cultural and language revival.  A small number of their supporters were totally out of order. Agus tá a fhios ag an phobal cé hiad.  "An uncooth bundle of scummy hoors"?. No, that would be Paisley spake and, being frae Antrim, you should know what that means. Indiscipline? Will we talk Cushendall "that can outshine them all" v Naomh Eoin in Dunloy and the fights both on the pitch and in the crowd?  Word never got outside the Glens. In Gaelic sporting terms in Ulster, Slaughtneil have been the benchmark for the last 6 years - in club hurling, club football and club camogie. In 66% of that, they still are. Tell the board a club or Gaelic community that can beat that? None, from Bóthar Seoighe go Crois Mhic Lionnáin go Gaoth Dobhair.

Did you see the CDall scuffle?

You're being while hard on the Robbies. They were only defending themselves from the semi Tyrone men & the reason they fell among each other in the changing rooms the other night was the lack of warm water.

I'm told this all squarely down to St Galls, they have been given numerous options ( too many) and because there is a function at Corrigan that evening all clubs asked to agree to bring forward the times, all agreed I hear but St Galls so now the matches are split and Galls still playing silly buggers. So the minors loose out playing before seniors and supporters have to travel, as per usual people in positions of authority make their own decisions without consideration for minors and supporters and games in the city!!! . No doubt the deflection tactics will start and its the fault of the county etc etc....

It would depend what was known when.

Speaking of which why is Junior final no longer before the other semi. I would have went to Glenavy had the two games been together. Will prob go watch Cargin St Galls now instead.

Junior final is at 1.30pm and the other semi is 4.30pm. Changing rooms possibly or extra time maybe is a worry.

I have to say I thought the man in the middle was terrible on Sunday. 3 red cards should have been issued on Sunday and he bottled it on two off them. Don't think he is up to the standard needed for senior championship

tool..

A fella was telling me tonight st galls players were getting petrol money from county board for their semi on saturday. What way does that work? Was it only cause game was switched? Otherwise this bound to cause problems doown the line in both codes

Was he sniffing the said petrol?

Why wouldn't BALLYCASTLE get the big games ?? The pitch was in great shape at the weekend . Can't help the weather . Was it not windy in the St. John's and Cushendall game . Best place for parking . But would think now that we have had these two games that the final will be in Dunloy .

Settle petal..

what was the free count at the end of the game anyway?

game had no pace to it at all and was all stop start. Lgiel got their tactics spot on and we didnt. Defensibly we didnt do a lot wrong, our keeper had very little to do the whole game but it was the amount of frees we gave away killed us. Up front we just didnt do enough work.

you learn lessons from it and move on.

Spot on as per usual DR. Fair play to the Dunloy club on Saturday btw. Helpfulness of stewards and members top notch again.

I believe that the results at the weekend were fair and the refs in both games did not cost any team - i thought they were neutral, tried to let both games flow (rather that than start /stop) yep for sure they missed somethings (and probably could have been helped more by their linesmen) - overall a good performance by both men in the middle.

I take it you werent at the game yesterday then Sweeper. It wasnt as much a case of stop start as it was stop stop. The game never got going in any sense especially in the second half, partly LG tactic and partly the ref.

Didnt affect the outcome of the game just made it an even poorer watch.

Also when are we going to learn about Ballycastle, we continually take these big game there only to have them completely ruined by prevailing conditions. No programme, no announcement of the teams, no PA system for anthem but apart from that was grand  :(

Bad enough with the wind up there in July/ august never mind the business end in October. Its a very exposed place and whoever uses the conditions best normally comes out on top.

Only fair that the cdall johnnies replay is in the city tbh. Can't have everything in NA IMO.

Where in the city? Hannahstown, another venue that is destroyed by the elements. Bear pit? Where would the parking be at?
