The difference between Forde/Browne not getting Allstars because they were from a weaker county I don't think is applicable in the case of Reilly from Cavan. There have been no Goalkeepers who have really stood out thus far in the championship and the 2 in the Final haven't covered themselves in glory this past few weeks therefore Reilly is definitely worth a shout.

McGinley for me is the standout player of the year out of the 2 teams left barring something miraculous from one of the Kerry players in the final (If Donaghy has a good game he may be in with a shout).

Apart from that McMahon has been the best FB in the country this year and barring a disaster against Donaghy should get that spot as Kerry's FB line has been woeful this year. Gormley and Jordan are also in with a good shout. McCullagh and Cavanagh are definitely shoo ins at this stage also.

For Kerry I would say T O'Sé, Scanlon, Gooch, Donaghy at the minute and depending on who has a better final it's between D. O'Sullivan if he has another good final, or McCullagh, whoever playes better I would think. I'll go for McCullagh at the minute though.

That leaves 6 spots from the rest, Lyng maybe, McCluskey (I think he deserves one he was outstanding every game he played even when Fermanagh were shite) Miskella, Reilly, P. Bradley (only messing but Remember when they used to give one spot to the NFL Champions?), Clarke and Meehan.

My Allstars so far...

Reilly
Miskella, McMahon, Gormley
O'Se,  Jordan, McCluskey
Scanlon, McGinley
McCullagh, Gooch, Meehan
Clarke, Cavanagh, Lyng

I think that would be a fair enough representation of the teams, not too sure about Miskella from Cork but every time I saw him he played well and he dragged Cork back into the game the first day. Maybe Canty might deserve it before him but Midfield is pretty much nailed on at this point. What do the rest of you think?

John Keane is the best corner back in the country. There's your straight swap.

Anyone remember McStays daft comment after a player picked up an injury in a championship match earlier on in the season (can't remember which game)?
"Yeah......... that looks like dead leg country."  ??? ;D

You seem to have an axe to grind with O'Rourke for some reason. Plenty of Pats players have made it to senior county level. It most certainly is a footballing academy.

Two knobs.

Why do you think is O'Rourke a knob? When has he tried to be controversial?

His spake about Dooher was as controversial as they come...what else do you need????

Jesus H Christ. That was years ago and he admitted he was wrong.

Beating Tyrone AND Mayo in the one year would be pretty sweet alright. Stoke up the bitterness a bit more. ;)

No worries of Bitterness in Mayo or Tyrone when we see how average Meath have become over the last 7 years.

If only that were true! The bitterness bit I mean. ;)

Ian Ryan of Limerick has said he's not interested in joining the AFL. From gaa.ie.

Limerick teenage prodigy Ian Ryan will not be joining AFL side Essendon, the player confirmed on Thursday.

Reports in various media during the week had suggested that the 19-year-old was on the verge of signing an international rookie contract with the AFL giants.

The teenager burst into the public consiciousness with a series of brilliant displays in the Limerick inside forward line this summer, the high-point of which was his personal haul of 3-7 against Meath in the qualifiers.

However, Ryan insists that his future remains in Gaelic football after his return from a two-week trial with the Melbourne side.

"It was a temendous experience being involved in a full-time set-up for two weeks and Essendon couldn't have treated me bettter," said Ryan.

"But after giving the matter a lot of thought, I've decided that I'd prefer to playing Gaelic football rather than making the change to Aussie Rules which has many stoppages for marks when players catch the ball cleanly."

"As well, I've come to the comclusion that Gaelic football is more of a hobby rather than something I'd like to be involved in full-time, if it were possible. So the full-time element of Aussie Rules wouldn't be a plus for me."

I'll be watching the match with my good pals Martin O'Connell and John McDermott. :o

Best of luck to the young Royals tomorrow. I'll be there to cheer them on. Hope I'm in the middle of the Tyrone crowd!

Well done Mayo. No fluke. They should have won by that much the first day.

lads, big issue over nothing, its no big deal in my opinion.the gaa loses far far more players to soccer and rugby than they ever will to aussie rules.this man nixon is trying his best and who can blame him but at the end of the day, there are very few lads who would up and leave family, friends and the gaa to go the other end of the world to perhaps make abita money.very few make it and those that do will be on decent enough money, but its not massive money (only a few of the massive stars over there are making more than 100grand a year) so if the young lad has any propects here in ireland he'l probably stay. and if he doesnt have any prospects then he'l probably and thats great because the gaa has provided a young lad with no prospects otherwise a gateway to a good life, that what its all about really.

ps i no for a fact that alot of the lads that went down to the camp have absolutley no intention of going anywhere near aussie land but only went for no1 the craic no2 to say they were down and no3 cos they got a load of free gear (may aswell take everything we can off the chaeting aussie b*****d's! :D)

Bingo.

20 camps my arse. They had one so far and I barely recognised any of the handful of player there.

He's an amateur who knows what buttons to press and how to impress aready impressionable youngsters !

It's no coincidence that the Collingwood recruitment manager came out with that comment about all the emails he was getting from intercounty players. They are trying to create the illusion that hordes of young lads are falling over themselves to get to the AFL. That way, when a youngster is in 2 minds he'll think, "Well all these other lads want to go too."
