GAA Discussion / Re: GAA Room 101

I concur with the yellow card for both players nonsense, totally unfair.

Tyrone folk's tendency to excuse or condone appalling behaviour from their teams.

Referees still allowing players to throw the ball away or stand in front of a free taker.

Players in the last minute taking a point when their team are three behind, have some balls and go for goal.

Soft frees awarded to keepers for minimal physical contact.

It's sad to see so many delusional Liverpool fans here. As a lifelong fan myself it's plain to see Rodgers isn't up to the job, and signing average players like Milner and Ings isn't going to improve the side at all.

It's a poor Down side, can't see them containing Skinner and O'Boyle unless McIvor continues to insist on his lamentable tactics of late.

If Derry play Bradley and O'Boyle together and deliver quick early ball to them they'll beat Down easily. If Derry persist with the dreary sideways handpassing game Down could beat them.

Personally, I always thought he should have stayed with Maria. She was a wee ride.

Haha

No shortage of apologists for the inexcusable behaviour of Tyrone players it seems. No wonder this behaviour is rife in the county, it seems to be openly accepted by many.

Amazing how some people can set aside right and wrong so readily.

Very disappointed but not at all surprised to hear of this latest incident involving Tyrone players mouthing.

It's even more disappointing that so many Tyrone folk seem more keen to deny or make excuses rather than confront and condemn these incidents.

Quite pathetic how much some Tyrone men will condone in the name of winning a game of football. Shameful.

I thought Donegal were more guilty in terms of sly fouling and mouthing off. Tyrone seemed to have more football in them than Donegal.

Donegal were very poor. But for the referee letting them away with a lot of cynical fouling, Tyrone would have won comfortably.

Michael Murphy is absolutely nowhere near the best forward in Ireland, he was terrible today and just isn't good enough to score heavily from play in a regular basis.

I strongly suspect Donegal will not be a top four team come the end of the year. They have only one truly outstanding footballer in Karl Lacey, and I think teams will be better prepared to counteract their dull system this year.

McGuinness leaving ended any genuine All-Ireland hopes for this bunch of players.

Today's game has reinforced my opinion that Donegal aren't in with a realistic chance of winning the All Ireland. Just not good enough.

Murphy flatters to deceive. He's never really been a proper marquee forward capable of consistently racking up big scores from play. Plays in fits and starts. Good but not great for me.

The McGees look better than they are because of Donegal's negative defensive tactics, but have been roasted time and time again when asked to man mark quality forwards.

Mcbrearty has promise and Macniallas looked decent, but in terms of individual talent, Donegal wouldn't be in the top five counties. It's the system that has brought them success, not the players

Truly there are none so blind as those who will not see.

Thankfully I am greatly encouraged by the former Tyrone county player (whose identity I will protect in light of the hostile and borderline threatening reactions proliferating this thread) who wasn't as myopic in his outlook.

His anger at how some moronic Tyrone folk attempted to defend the indefensible gives me hope that all is not lost. Here's hoping one day we'll see a less cowardly and more manly brand of football from Tyrone.

Wishing you all a pleasant evening,

Was talking to a former Tyrone county player there earlier, and credit to him, he said he was ashamed of the antics Tyrone players are involved in these days. He went as far as to say he couldn't take any pleasure in watching them win some games due to their cheating and unsporting play.

Good to hear.

It's the cowardly behaviour such as goading, gouging, kneeling on, nipping, feigning injury, diving etc which many Tyrone players have routinely engaged in over the last 15 years that understandably leaves a sour taste in the mouths of many observers.

Some great footballers over that time of course, but unfortunately even some of them will be remembered more for the cynical cheating they undertook than their great performances.
