Am I the only who noticed that TV3 are showing the Rugby World Cup, can't believe RTE let this slip along with the Heineken Cup.  If TV3's live soccer coverage is anything to go by then i can't see many people watching it on TV3 when they can watch a more professional coverage on BBC or SKY.

He could end up picking up anyone really. Against Mayo all the Galway forwards seemed to swap positions fairly regularly. Both Joyce and Meehan spent a lot of time in the half-forward line.

If that is the case then it will be very crowded out round the  40 and midfield with leitrim possibly playing Regan in his usual third midfielder role, although i would be surprised if a team of Galways talent playing this system two games in a row - although it did work effectively against mayo - Leitrim defence would be of a better quality than mayos in my opinion, but if this were to happen then we can force Galway into shots from distance which will leave us in with a shout.

I like the look of this team. Finally Prior has returned to defence where he is most effective. McKeon at no. 6 will be picking up Ja Fallon should give Mckeon some freedom - interestling this is McKeon usual playing position with drumreilly - he should be more of a presence here than mcweeney who will be no stranger to corner back. Interesting selection with Maxwell at Half forward can't see him staying there -  either he'll act as a third midfielder with a two man full-forward line or he will more than likely switch with Michael foley to centre forward.  Can't wait for this game - not a bit of pressure on Leitrim, as far as most outsiders would be concerned its Galway's to lose but i think this is as strong Leitrim team in years with absolutely no injuries.

Good draws for us would be Limerick, Down, Louth, Westmeath, and for the local aspect, Leitrim or Longford. But everyone will look at Cavan and think the same, suits me fine.

Leitrim aren't in any hat, the least you could do is give them a little bit of respect until they are knocked out !!

While I was not at the game, I would imagine that players knowing that the team is already picked, they weren't going to push themselves too hard in a challenge game in case of injury only a week and half before a game they have been training for over six months for.  Would see the the winning of our own kickouts being vital with the use of Shane Foley and Maxwell as extra target men for the kickouts.

While I don't agree with hitting any official I have certain sympathies...........lets be honest..........name 5 top class referees in GAA........difficult...ok name 2.

A lot of referees want to be the centre of attention.........and most achieve this by crazy decisions.............players train 2-3 nights per week and have to put up with complete clowns most of the time

the solution IMHO is pay them a decent fee and have regular fitness/rules tests.

I would take issue with you in regard to a lot of referees wanting to be the centre of attention, i think you will find that the vast majority of referees are ordinary club men who aren't shy about taking a job at an agm whereas those who sit back and criticise referees wouldn't dream of pulling on the referees jersey - I have put this to some of own team mates when they criticise referees and more often than not they don't know what to say.

Isn't it any wonder there is a shortage of Referees.  How on earth would you put up with it.  Speaking as a former ref i gave it up after a few games, i was spat at and called every name under the sun in the space of five or six games.  As i always say to people who criticise referees, the reason why there is a poor quality of referees in the game is because good potentials referees aren't prepared to put up with that kind of shite.

Thought i'd get the ball rolling on this game.  From a Leitrim angle there were bet 1-11 to 0-8 by Westmeath last night.  Some injury doubhts over McKeon, Duignan and McCloskey but I'd still expect them to play regardless.  As usual Galway willl be favourites and rightly so but having said that it'll be a close game - but if we are to beat Galway we'll have to be able to close out the game if we are in front in the second half unlike last year against Mayo where we were wasteful - but then again you never know stranger things have happenned.

I think you are all way off the mark in regard to leitrim.  Being realiistic you have to take into account monaghan are in under21 final 24hrs beforehand, monaghan have nothing play for except for starting places on the team and then there is for me the Cloone factor, this venue gives leitrim a major advantage with its tight playing field with the crowd right in on top of you.  In relation to the offaly rosscommon game i'm going for the rossies offaly are in a under21 final 24hrs earlier this i tink wil giv the rossies the edge.  Carlow still in dissaray could be in for a shock i think london will be bouyed up by their performance against leitrim last weekend.  Longford are a sure thing against clare, longford will have way too much for them.  If i'm right on all 4 games them i'll be over €200 better off.  Having said that its hard to see this division not being decided on playoff's.

if leitrim are unlucky not to win either this year     i'd like to see mayo in football and waterford in the hurling

Here are the 15 - yes 15 possible outcomes next sunday -


1. If Leitrim and Roscommon both win next Sunday, score difference will decide second and third, at the moment Leitrim are four points behind Roscommon.

2. If Leitrim and Roscommon both draw Roscommon will finish second and Leitrim third on score difference.

3. If Leitrim draw and Roscommon lose Leitrim will finish second.

4. If there are wins for Monaghan, Roscommon and Clare next weekend, Offaly, Longford, Carlow and London will play in TM Cup and Division 4 2008. Leitrim and Clare will play in Qualifiers 2007 and League Division 3 2008, with Monaghan and Roscommon playing in Division 2 2008.

5. If there are wins for Offaly, Longford and Monaghan, then Roscommon, Leitrim, Longford and Offaly will be tied on eight points each and playoffs will be required to decide who qualifies for Division 2(one team), Division 3(two teams) and Division 4(one team) from among these four.

6. If all three games finish level, Roscommon will finish second, Leitrim third and playoffs will be required to separate Longford/Clare/Offaly to decide one reaming place in Division 3 2008 and two remaining places in Division 4 2008 and TM Cup 2007

7. If Offaly/Roscommon and Longford/Clare matches are both drawn then Leitrim will finish second if victorious over Monaghan, with Roscommon finishing third and playoffs will be required to decide the separation of Clare, Longford and Offaly

8. If Offaly/Roscommon and Longford/Clare matches are both drawn then Leitrim will finish third if losing/drawing versus Monaghan, with Roscommon finishing second on score difference in the event of a Leitrim draw and playoffs will be required to decide the separation of Clare, Longford and Offaly.

9. If Longford/Clare draw and there are wins for Leitrim and Offaly, then Leitrim will finish second, Roscommon/Offaly third/fourth with Clare, Longford, Carlow and London playing in Division 4 2008 and TM Cup 2007.

10. If Longford/Clare draw and there are wins for Monaghan and Offaly, then Leitrim, Roscommon and Offaly will be tied for second place and playoffs will be required to determine the remaining one place in Division 2 and the two remaining places in Division 3 with Clare, Longford, Carlow and London playing in Division 4 2008 and TM Cup 2007.

Leitrim scrape by after being level throughout, still level with 34mins gone in second half but Leitrim pulled through with 3 points in last five minutes.  Leitrim go second in Division 2A with a win against Monaghan next Sunday in Cloone virtually gauranting division 2 football.
