Linked with Branthwaite and going to make an approach.  They need another centre half but Branthwaite and Martinez are both left sided centre backs which will give an inbalance in the team.

Quote from: bennydorano on June 14, 2024, 09:49:16 AMDid anything happen with Mackin or are we going down a self imposed disciplinary route? A silly precedent to establish if we are imo.

Mackin aside, Higgins call is a bit left field but strong looking team and bench, not surprised Soupy was dropped tbh, he was the only relatively poor performer I noticed v Derry.

If a player risked getting a completely pointless red card which may affect team performance and prejudice referees, then should he be there?
I can only presume he is injured.  Mackin should have got the road and the game could have been totally different against Derry.  I don't think any manager is going to leave a player out because they should have saw red.  I would hope and expect management have addressed this internally and the player himself will know that what he did was needless and daft.

Quote from: toby47 on June 14, 2024, 10:18:17 AMArmagh in a great position regarding squad depth. They can drop their least effective player each game, with no drop off in quality for the fella coming in - Keeps everyone on their toes. Lots of teams don't have that luxury. They have really built a strong panel, with very little men opting to leave the panel in recent years.

That Armagh bench is stacked with talent. Oisin O'Neill, Jason Duffy, Aidan Nugent, Soupy, Jarly Og, Greg McCabe, Paddy Burns.

Connaire Mackin suspended, Ciaran Mackin out with cruciate. With the likes of Jamar Hall & Cian McConville not making match day panels.

Anyone think we will see Ethan Rafferty appear this year at all? Even in an outfield capacity?

Depends on injuries and form. If Hughes stays fit and keeps the form then can't see him in Goals. If we're desperate then he could be introduced with 5-10 to go on the edge of the square (Possibly)
Given the depth that Armagh have its keeper or nothing I would say.  Murnin, McParland, O'Neills(s) are just as effective on the edge of the square so don't see a cameo role out the field.

Quote from: Spiderlegs on June 11, 2024, 02:10:08 PMFor Armagh/Galway, any word on injured or returning players?
The likes of Murnin and Burns for Armagh...Comer, Kelly and Finnerty for Galway?

If these 3 arent available then it could be difficult for Galway. They've all caused us serious problems before, particularly Finnerty.

I hope they are available though. I dont want any false results this time of year for Armagh. Let's see where we are at against a top side in the business end of the season.
sorry hate to see guys injured but for me if not playing its a blessing
we need to win to get straight to the quarter finals
remember we have conor o neill and mackin out
+1 need to take advantage of the unfortunate circumstances to make life easier for themselves.

Quote from: Real Talk on June 11, 2024, 12:10:11 AMI'm hoping that Harte & Horse have enough pride  and football knowledge to prepare properly for the Westmeath game and set up the team using the most of Gallagher's successful tactics to be able to won our kickout's as well as Westmeath's

Also effectively close down large spaces in front of the Derry defence !!! ... they surely  have learned from the mistakes made in the Donegal and Armagh games.

We know they have missing players but that in itself is no excuse ... they need to have Westmeath well analysed and prepare accordingly ... No excuses.

And 'Horse Devlin' needs to treat all the players with respect and not be shouting at them from the side line like animals.

Our players are not getting paid

I think if anything the past few weeks have demonstrated that we don't need to win Westmeath's kickout let them have it!!

No point in having everyone fully pressed up if we're going to lose the ball anyway in our own half and concede a goal chance.

We need to go back to the negativity in defence at least until we get our confidence back!
Harte clearly didn't learn anything from Donegal game but is the malfunction on the kickouts solely down to him? Rogers/Glass have been lauded as one of the best midfield partnerships in the country were totally wiped out by Armagh round the middle. The tactics employed by Harte were not questioned when Derry were rolling over teams in the league, is it a case that the middle 8 are not doing the job that they had been previously.  The turnover in players in that sector due to injury and suspension doesn't seem to have helped.

Poor Derry lads getting shouted at by that big bad Tyrone man ::) .  Gallagher was arguably the most animated Gaa coach you have ever seen but his behaviour on the line would never have been questioned.

Are you seriously trying to claim that Harte and Devlin will not be analysing Westmeath and preparing the team  for the game?

Portugal look good on paper then you realise they have Martinez in charge and they look less appealing.  He must have some agent.

Quote from: Maroon Manc on June 04, 2024, 06:14:24 PMDid McDaid spend much time at full forward on Sunday? Comer a huge loss, Armagh at even money with PP seems like a decent bet to me.

Cute hoorism in already;)

Mackin, O'Neill and Murnin 3 massive losses for us, but maybe we'll get Murnin back. Not sure who'll take Walsh, definitely miss Morgan for that job.  At least it can't go to penalties anyway.
McCambridge has probably done enough last week to get job.Marked Walsh well in league game last year too think may have kept him scoreless from play.
