Watching all the layin down and time in injury time wasted with bookings etc surely the time has come for the obvious answer to this constant problem. Yes, players will stay lay down to kill momentum etc but at least the 70 minutes or closer to it will be played

GAA Discussion / Brian Carthy demoted
May 28, 2010, 03:59:48 PM
Interesting piece in GAA supplement in today's Racing Post about Brian Carthy getting demoted to sideline reporter by Rte and his legal team pursuing the matter.
''And Pat Gilroy is getting ready to bring in a sub..a sub...by Pat Gilroy, Pat who won a club medal with Vincents...and that sub is Alan Brogan, Alan, son of Bernard, Brother of Bernard, Brogan, Alan is the sub being made by Pat...''

GAA Discussion / Aertel and RTE scorelines
February 14, 2010, 06:48:09 PM
Nice to see Aertel and Rte news giving Sligo an extra 3 points. Score was 1-14 to 2-10 to Sligo...not 1-17 to 2-10. If ya had Sligo -2 on handicap cash in now...if ya had Louth +2 hold on to your docket!!!!Remember having an accum up but scrapping the docket after checking wrong result on Aertel-got it back in shop anyway.

GAA Discussion / Colm Begley return?
December 10, 2009, 02:18:54 PM
Begley may be returning to Ireland in the near future, but it seems his native Laois are not the only county interested. A plum job in neghbouring Kildare could make for an interesting decision.

GAA Discussion / ESB AI Minor Football
July 28, 2009, 11:42:57 AM
After the fantastic AI finals Mayo and Tyrone provided last year at this grade, who's likely to win it this year?Always think minor is near impossible to call. Think Kerry could do it this year.
Q-finals this w/end see Armagh-Kildare and Dublin-Down in Breffni Park, Mayo and Tipp in Portlaoise and Kerry-Ros in Tullamore. Any thoughts on likely winners?
I'll go Armagh, Down, Tipp and Kerry.

GAA Discussion / Mickey Quinn all-star
October 14, 2008, 03:25:01 AM
Just after officiating on a bet for 20€ on the fact that Mickey Quinn won an all-star in 1990 (google-aidied judging) What did Leitrim/Mickey Quinn do in 1990 that led to him winning Leitrim's 1st all-star award? Was it All-Ireland B or Railway cup?

GAA Discussion / 7-a-side vs. 15-a-side
August 18, 2008, 03:09:17 PM
Read this on www.knowledgeablenoel.com and near wet myself!

Dear Noel,
I'm worried about my husband. Lately he has started dropping hints about getting involved in a seven-a-side. He says all his mates and their wives do it every summer.
I'm just not that type of girl. I don't want to lose him, Noel, but I'm afraid if he starts dabbling in seven-a-side, he will never regain his love for the conventional 15-a-side game.
We met through 15-a-side. That's what I'm comfortable with, and I don't want to interfere with the karma in any way.
What should I do?
     - Lisa (33), Lower Laois.

Noel replies – Seven-a-sides will mess his head up. He might never recover his form if he turns his back on the blanket defence at this crucial time in the evolution of the game.
Be firm. Refuse point-blank to humour his new fetish. Threaten to leave. Of course, it can't all be stick. Some carrot is needed too.. Leave a copy of Kerry's Golden Years in the video, and 'accidentally' switch it on when he's relaxing with a glass of wine on Saturday night. Jimmy Magee's Greatest Sporting Memories, Volume 4, is another definite turn-on. Bring him to Westmeath and Tipp in the qualifiers, and if the sight of 13 men behind the ball doesn't get his motor running, nothing will. It's probably just a phase he's going through, Lisa.
Stick to your guns and I feel sure the traditional game will once again keep both of you very satisfied in every way.

GAA Discussion / Kerry indiscipline
March 26, 2007, 11:31:11 AM
Thought Kerry were shocking in this regard yesterday. Darragh O'Se's elbow on Donegal back in middle of 2nd half was cynical and should be dealt with.Caught perfectly on tv cameras and no action taken by ref so no excuse for GAA. Could've broken a nose/cheekbone. Sean O'Sullivan got booked, ticked and 2 rugby efforts later got taken off! Ref was absolutely shocking.
Well deserved win for Donegal.Thought Devenney was brilliant
