General discussion / Donagh
October 17, 2008, 11:12:53 AM
In the past I made an allegation that Donagh had threatened me via pm. I unfortunately do not have the evidence to back up this claim so therefore, in this instance, I must retract the allegation regarding Donagh and his threatening behaviour.

Someone asked a week or so back 'was the north a strange place?'

Michael McIlveen R.I.P. , may the evil scum responsible burn in hell.

Murdered schoolboy `beat 60 times`

The trial of murder victim Michael McIlveen has heard how a friend tried to save the Catholic schoolboy from a drunken sectarian mob.

In a video-taped police interview his friend told how, as he fought off and held one attacker, another would take his place.

He also claimed the attackers beat his 15-year-old friend with a baseball bat and punched and kicked him over 60 times.

The witness, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said afterwards he knew there was "something seriously wrong" with the schoolboy, whom he described acting like "a two-year-old child - crawling about - he didn't know anything".

The tape was played to the Antrim Crown Court trial of the six remaining Ballymena youths charged in connection with the murder in May 2006.

The trial continues.

sorry but when did getting completely outclassed and bitch slapped around the ring by a much superior and gifted fighter, into an embarrassing 3rd place, warrant an open top bus around parts of North Belfast. I like many cringed when i watched his performance and cringed when i listened to his pathetic after fight comments.
Is this what it has come to, 3rd place being viewed as a brilliant success?
He claims he'll be bringing the gold back home in 2012.............sorry Paddy but milk today as much as you can, this is as good as it will ever get kiddo. :'(

General discussion / chippy brady rushed to hospital
August 21, 2008, 02:13:17 PM
Republic of Ireland assistant football manager Liam Brady has been rushed to hospital after falling ill.

The former Irish international and Arsenal star was taken in for treatment in Dublin in the early hours of this morning.

A spokeswoman for Beaumont Hospital, where Brady was being cared for, said he was in a stable condition.

Brady had travelled to Norway with the Irish football squad for an end of summer friendly in Oslo on Wednesday night.

He arrived back in Dublin with the rest of the coaching staff at around 2am.

A FAI spokesman confirmed Brady was taken to hospital a few hours later.

"Liam Brady was feeling a bit unwell and as a precautionary measure he went into hospital where he is in a stable condition, and lucid."

It is understood Brady is being kept in for observation and tests.

Fermanagh are awaiting news of the availability of Glentoran midfielder Shane McCabe for the Ulster SFC final at Clones on Sunday 20 July.

The Glens will be in Uefa Cup action three days before the Ulster decider and play their second leg a week later.

McCabe will sit down to discuss the matter with Glentoran manager Alan McDonald on Monday evening.

The Belcoo clubman has played a key part in Fermanagh reaching their first provincial final in more than 25 years.

The Erne county have never won a provincial title and will face either Down or Armagh in this year's final, with Clones being the venue decided by the Ulster Council on Monday.

The East Belfast club have permitted McCabe to play in Fermanagh's opening two Ulster championship games and he has played a pivotal role after coming on as a substitute against Monaghan and Derry.

He came off the bench to land one of the best scores of the summer so far against Monaghan, recording a point with the outside of his boot from 30 yards out.

He was also influential in the win over the Oak Leaf county at Healy Park on Saturday.

McCabe has also established himself as an important midfield player for the Glens after moving to the Oval from Dungannon Swifts in January and has made 17 appearances for the Irish League side.

Glentoran do not yet know their Uefa Cup first qualifying round opponents, or whether they will be home or away first, as the draw does not take place until Tuesday 1 July.
