General discussion / BBC Sport website
February 14, 2009, 11:18:01 AM
Is anyone else a regular reader of the BBC sport website? I must say I'm on it at least once a day and think it is a great website.

However I want to rant about their 'blogs' and that dick 'Robbo' or whatever you call him that writes them. He's written a recent one about Hiddink and Chelsea. Its just typical English drivel, I struggle to see how someone so talentlless gets so much exposure.

Anyway let me know if you agree or whether I'm just going mad.

Have been meaning to do this a while ago but was unable due my misdemeanour a month ago.

What would be your starting eleven of players you hate the most in the Premier League.

Mine would be:

Gomez

Neville, Ferdinand, Terry, Cole

Ronaldo, Barton, Lampard, Diouf

Defoe, Drogba

And the manager would be Harry Redknapp

General discussion / Queen's PEC
December 15, 2008, 06:46:27 PM
I was just looking online at the cost of joining the Queen's gym and I am astonished at the prices!

£300 a year for student membership of your own gym? Granted I am no longer a student, but graduate membership is equally a disgrace, I think its in and around £400.

Anyone else think this is a joke? Can anyone explain the price hike? I remember when I was in first year (2005) it was £50 to join for the full year.

Also worth noting that they have a so-called 'admin fee' for paying by direct debit. Surely there is less admin involved with direct debits, there is a different admin price for different packages ranging from £15-25 how can there be more admin involved depending on how much or when your gonna use the place.

This is pathetic.

General discussion / Annoying Phrases
May 30, 2008, 04:44:04 PM
I hate those throw-away phrases or principles that people just say for the sake of saying, or take for granted as fact.

Was getting ready for an exam the other morning and this is one that I regularly hear, "well, if you don't know it by now your never gonna know it!". Not true! you can learn somethin small in 30 seconds that might actually get you more marks.

Another one that is constantly thrown around during the winter is, "its too cold to snow". Its -40 degrees in the artic and it snows there all the time!

Anyone have any others?

In light of the recent discussions on John Terry/Chelsea and their right-wing racist connections I was intrigued to look further into the murky underworld of British fascism. I came across this, which seems to be the main site of Combat 18 www.bloodandhonour.com

You need to have a username approved to have access to the site so I went ahead and got one which I will provide to the board here for anyone to use

Username: connolly1916
Password: qwerty123

Obviously the subtleties of my username were lost on them.

Some of the stuff on the site is unreal but highly intrigueing.

I think it's been pretty dead around here lately does anyone else agree? I'm not sure what the reason is but there just doesn't seem to be the same amount of craic anymore.

Anyone wanna offer up any theories as to what happened? Are people maybe afraid to talk about controversial topics because they risk being disciplined or is that irrelevant altogether?

General discussion / Punchestown Festival
March 28, 2008, 11:51:02 AM
Me and a few are thinking of heading down to the festival for a days craic and rip. Does anyone know would you need to buy the tickets early or does it generally not sell out? Also is it worth buying the €40 tickets instead of €30 ones?

And if anyone lives in that direction can they tell me if there is regular buses from Naas to the racecourse?

General discussion / The mods rules.
February 15, 2008, 08:55:00 PM
What do people generally think about that list of rules and regulations for the board?

Ive just seen them as I havent been on the board in a while so I don't know how long they are there. At the risk of "annoying" the mods and incurring penalties I think they are ridiculous and they have defiantely gone too far. They are actually very poorly put togther, ambiguous and could be torn apart under any analytical examination. Some geek in his bedroom has clearly got a little drunk with the power of being a moderator on a discussion forum.
