Who would have thought that a Stoop could utter such a cutting insult to a former UVF terrorist (now DUP Member, funny how the party faithful had no pangs of conscience about accepting him) who lost his legs in a bomb attempt. ::)

Hard to believe it was August 1977 when the King left the building. at a comparatively young age, leaving me and millions of his fans worldwide heartbroken and devastated.Life has never been the same. How I cried... the day Kenny Dalglish left Celtic to join Liverpool! Well who else did you think I was talking about

Never thought I'd see the day when Linfield players would bet abused for being Catholics.

Wonder will the Belfast Telegraph print an opinion column on this? Naw sure its only a bit of craic >:(

Miraculously complimentaries have fallen into my lap (Lower Cusack central as well!) for the Dublin Derry game (not to mention Armagh V Roscommon in the Rackard Cup) tomorrow and for Sunday's Double header as well ;D

However due to a pre arranged social event which requires my presence I am unable to remain in Dublin overnight Saturday and must return home after the Dubs game and travel back down the next morning. Incurring such petrol costs, toll fees, parking, overpriced food etc, is there a more dedicated GAA man than me in all of Ireland?

He says when he was leaving Croker last Saturday he got a text message from a Mullaghbawn man as follows:

"What a week. Tyrone and the Brits both out!"

You can't beat Armagh humour

Important that this should be brought to the attention when the GAA is on the receiving end of flak by OWC bigots it is genuinely reassuring to observe that their small mindedness is not shared by all unionists, and quite possibly, not shared by even a majority of unionists

Heard a glowing review on Dougie Marshall's show on Downtown Radio this morning of young Kielty's acting debut in the Night in November play (the theme of which is sectarianism at Windsor Park). It is fair to say Dougie (A Londoner by the way)was literally raving about him. saying he should be waking up this morning very happy and proud.

Hope he takes this play on tour to Dublin, London's West End etc. A few memories definitely need refreshing ;D

Through tremendous support from all and being proactive (ie recognising the problem, threatening real and meaningful sanctions for offenders, and not being in self denial) the GAA looks likely to attract Darren Gibson back to the sport. Contrast this with the lack of support given to Neil Lennon by the IFA/OWC (just read the threads on OWC which are far from welocoming to any prospect of Lennon's return) and the consequent failure to win him back.

Watch and learn how to run a successful GAA gor All Campaign ;D

I hope for the sake of balance that at least one of these dogs is Catholic.

If they misbehave can they be reported to Nuala O'Loan, the Official Watchdog? ;D

Opens in the Grand Opera House in Belfast tonight. Do get along to see this quality drama and get an unrivalled insight into Windsor Park and its attendant sectarianism
#677
Good to see one local media source with its finger on the pulse. The current ad on Downtown for A Night in November involves the star of the show Paddy Kielty urging people to attend with a band playing the Sash in the background, a fair reflection of the composition of the North of Ireland team's support

Milk Cup Elite Final : North of Ireland 1 Isreal 4 ;D

Even on the bleakest day, there's always a silver lining. Now how many of these players will wake up and smell the coffee and follow Darren Gibson's example by declaring to the real Ireland side? ;)

General discussion / Henke Larsson to play in Drogheda
August 04, 2007, 12:12:34 PM
In UEFA Cup for Helsingborgs. Surely the last time we Irish subjects get a chance to pay homage to the King in our native land.

By the way anyone well in with Drogheda United, I need a Celtic shirt and a Barcelona shirt signed by His Majesty to add to my memoribilia collectionand once waited outside the Nou Camp after a game with Valencia to midnight but without success

This opinion column panders deeply to the prejudices of the Belfast Telegraph's Unionist readership as the Belfast Telegraph invariably does on all issues( on one alleged incident of sectarian abuse) links us all in with paramilitaries, and laughingly infers that soccer has eradicated sectarianism and that the NI team enjoys increased cross community support. It also ignores the fact that the GAA community from the President downwards has already rallied round the victim.

The Belfast Telegraph also has a serious credibility with the nationalist population given that it was cited in recent times by the Fair Employment Commission for an imbalanced workforce (ie very few taigs) and of course it never features GAA sport as the main story on the back page

Isn't it time all O'Reilly's rags were banned from the press boxes of GAA grounds?
