General discussion / Hierarchy of Death
February 22, 2010, 05:27:39 PM
A BBC list which contains details of the coverage that will be given to the deaths of major public figures, has reportedly been leaked.

Four people are still listed in Category 1 - the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Charles and Prince William. In the event of their deaths, programmes on BBC1, BBC2 and the BBC News Channel will be interrupted for an official announcement.

However, Category 2 has been abolished, downgrading the coverage given to other senior Royals and public figures, reports the Mail on Sunday.

Princess Anne, the Countess of Wessex and Princes Harry, Andrew and Edward, who were formerly on the Category 2 list, are now listed as 'other notables' alongside the likes of Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Tory leader David Cameron and US President Barack Obama.

The deaths of public figures in this category, which also includes Muhammad Ali, Bob Dylan and Nelson Mandela, will be covered as 'major breaking news stories with coverage on merit'.

Details of the changes to procedure were sent to all senior BBC news staff, reports the paper

'This doesn't surprise me one bit. I have said it all along, Britain will never give up this place but it will continue to run its PR bullshit to keep us kind hearted nationalists happy. Anyone who thinks there will be a United Ireland by peaceful means needs there head examined. The south is leaderless I have no doubt the British government could buy & sell Cowan as he just doesn't cut it as a leader. Its hard to say it but war is the only way a United Ireland will come about, but that won't happen anytime soon. This place is a bomb waiting to explode' - A quote from Herejam.

With impasse after impasse and a scandal breaking nearly everyday plus the threat of a 'big one' from the Dissidents, is a return to war an unlikely scenario or one which could very well come about?

General discussion / Feelings of Euphoria
January 10, 2010, 10:24:27 PM
Was just gliding through YouTube there and I came across an unbelievable video clip that brought me to back to when I was 7 years old.
I remember watching the recording of this on the Monday evening (Wrestlemania took place in the small hours of Monday morning) with my next door neighbour.
I remember at 0.38 nearly passing out with excitement. I totally bought into the whole wrestling concept at the time and this match was just 100% madness.
I think me must have paused and rewinded the video about 100 times just to see the run-in again.
Brilliant. Anyone else any similar experiences?

GAA Discussion / Gaelic Start Programme
October 19, 2009, 02:41:37 PM
Has anyone attended this yet? Terence McWilliams is the main man behind it and personally I think it seems to be the way forward.

Supposedly only four clubs in Armagh showed up for it and there hasnt been a lot of interest in the rest of the Ulster counties apart from Down.

Are most clubs still unsure of the whole Go Games/Gaelic Start approach to underage coaching?

Drinkers beware!

A percentage of money from each can sold goes to the GPA. It's in small print on the back of the can.
