In the same week as the first anniversary of Michaela McAreavey's passing, her brother Michael Harte Junior (who is also the Tyrone physio) became the proud father of Liam Peter, so making the Tyrone manager a grandad for the first time. "It's nice to get a bit of good news as well, and with the help of God we can build on that lovely story that we got on Friday. Every new life is brilliant, God Bless them all", said Mickey. GAA Discussion / Time to reflect
December 31, 2011, 06:56:26 PM
There are many families and people finding it tough around now, so maybe take a minute to remember them and in particular the McLean family who lost their son Michael so tragically in Nicaragua. His brother and parents speak so well on this video report from a tribute game the other night in Casement, including his Mum who says they are 'so lucky' to have had Michael for 26 years. http://tinyurl.com/726flhk

I know there's been drama like this before, up and down the country and beyond in the GAA, but it's hard to think of anything that could beat it for drama, intensity and excitement - see here the last 5 mins of the 2009 Tyrone SFC Final : http://tinyurl.com/6cn6rtk and here http://tinyurl.com/6byf3ud

A gentleman & always great to listen to, one of the best football summarisers I have ever heard, mixing genuine enthusiasm, knowedge of the game & respect for everyone involved - http://t.co/udolUEsD

GAA Discussion / Managers Still Playing
June 16, 2011, 10:46:31 AM
How many county managers or members of managements teams are still playing club football or hurling? I came across one last night playing in the Antrim League. He features on the highlights videos from the game at the link here. Mind you he's a bit unusual in that he is from Fermanagh, he plays in Belfast and manages in Donegal... and he's not long married. She must never see him. http://www.jeromequinnmedia.com/

Ok maybe this is worth a thread on its own. Who is the one player Gaelic footballer who the Aussies wanted to get, tried to get, would have loved to have got, who would have been a natural in their game, but who turned them down? Agent Ger Sholly, who's the fella who was chased out of Breffni Park, names the player he couldn't get - http://bit.ly/lrBHGf
