Hurling Discussion / Galway v Antrim NHL
February 13, 2007, 03:36:26 PM
What can we expect from Antrim this Sunday? I doubt any of the Cushendall players will be available for selection, maybe too soon for them. Galway will be up for the match for sure, home game Loughnane's first game, and the defeat from last years game all motivating tools to hammer Antrim.

Personally I'm looking good displays from squad, fitness levels to at least match Galway's, attitude to be positive and good discipline as this is the area were we give away the daft frees that put a bad refection on the game and scoreboard.

What is the Galway panel? Not too many lads from the Loughrea side on it?

Heading down for the game.  ;D i know!!!

Antrim / Antrim Hurling
January 26, 2007, 11:21:26 AM
Thought I would start up this thread as the Antrim football hurling one has turned into the football only one!!!

Anybody any ideas of the team selection for the match this Sunday? Low-key preparation, are they confident for the National league? I see no changes to the senior hurling leagues this year or the championship format. Will Loughgiel finally deliver this year or will the Johnnies make the graded this year.

Heading down to Salthill to watch the first game in Feb will we have the Cushendall boys then?

All Ireland gold last night, Tipperary v Galway, real classic. Lane lasses into the net in the final seconds and is jumped by a dozen Galway supporters.
I would say in today's games that there would be at least 3 straight reds and 4 or five double yellows. Leahy, was he a dirty shite all the time, he was only 18 in that game last night. And Declan Ryan was as bad, but stroke over some great points. Antrim were represented that year with Gerry McClory doing lines man.

My questions is this, do we prefer the hurling of that time to the type we have at the minute? I'll go for the late eighties early nineties every time. At least Antrim could compete with the big guns then.
