General discussion / ukraine regime change
February 23, 2014, 12:15:00 PM
Ukraine? Whats going on there? The democratically elected president ousted by minority party protesters backed by the EU and america when he decided to maintain ties with russia instead of blindly joining the united states of germany and france? Of course the EU are the goodies in this equation even though some of the minority parties in ukraine are openly nazi in ethos anti black and anti semetic but as long as they are anti russian who cares? Lets not forget only a few years ago all of our new eastern european friends had nuclear weapons pointed at us and the ability to be climbing up the cliffs of dover with conventional forces inside 36 hours of crossing the iron curtain such was thier strenght. So is our eagerness here in the west to embrace all countries ex warsaw pact borne out of good neighbourness or fear of our recent past?
And I thought the russians were our buddies now and china were the baddies? I cant keep up

What are you gonna do? Maybe some flowers. a card. Or has anyone ever bought 'parachute gear' as the farneymen say meaning 'lingerie' have you ever gone into a ladies shop and picked out something for the lady in your life? What did you go for? Did you tone it down because you were a little embarrassed to go for the kinky stuff? How much did you spend? Was the shop helpful or did you feel abit pervy? What did the lady think when she got your surprise? Maybe she thought you were getting pervy? Did she wear it or put it away never to be seen?
Ive never bought this stuff but some of it looks good how do you know what size to get if you did decide to get it.. ?

Maybe i'd be better stick to the ole ja dore.. Some of those lady shops scare me..

General discussion / the cats in the cradle...
February 02, 2014, 02:05:53 PM
Are you a dad? Do you worry that your not good at it. Bringing up kids is a tough job theres so many things you need to do besides bring home the money. I constantly question wheter i'm making a mess of it especially now as theyre starting to get bigger. The lad starting secondary school (the eldest) is the greatest worry. I'd like to spend more time with him but I need to pay the bills.
How do you know if your getting it right? You wont get a second chance.. I want them to get on get good work not the shite im at but how do you know if your getting through to them.. We live in the sticks so they wouldnt be too streetwise.. If they fail and end up all over the globe I'll feel im to blame same old story "could do better"
Am I worrying too much? Getting them was scary enough but this bit is a knightmare

Has anyone saw this? Maybe its been mentioned before but im thinking compromise rules for irelands hurlers. The shinty thing is the only real chance the hurlers get to represent ireland and its very low profile.
Picture canadian/US cheerleaders and all the razmataz that goes with challanging the yanks. Great chance for our lads to get some exposure. Maybe its been tried before? Could it work?

hookers hoors what ever you want to call them. have they a place in Irish society? have you ever had a hooker? our European mates all have them some are legal some are illegal. some are trafficked others have made a conscious decision to get stuck in. theres big money involved a good looking hooker could make a fortune. should Ireland legalise hookers? get them on the books could we screw our way out of recession? is it ok to go to other countries for a bonk but not to have them here? are we too nice? red light areas eg the reeperbahn in hamburg turn millions maybe we could set one up on a west coast island have a bit of gambling etc.. a sort of sex resort properly regulated?

General discussion / your mixed tape
January 15, 2014, 09:29:51 AM
Just doing a wee bit of a dungout in my shed.. I came across some old cassettes. Stuff I recorded mostly off the radio in my younger years. Dave fanning was a good source of music he knew students couldnt afford music so he'd not talk over the track so you could get it unspoiled. Some great stuff on these tapes. Plenry of elvis costello the smiths the cult paul weller steely dan.. Jez  this stuff is still great..

So for the craic compile a mixed tape list 12 or so songs that you'd buy on a cd if you could. Maybe diferent genre eg metal rock or pop or just mix the lot.  maybe think of it as a gift for someone.. Maybe you made one for a girlfriend what was on it?

At time when there is a considerable effort here and in scotland to get away from england our eastern european friends cant get enough of the place. The beebs programme last night showed the extent of the numbers currently in england and a projection of numbers expected to arrive. Hundreds of thousands possibly a million. They are worried. 2/3 children born in england parents are immigrants or 1st generation brits.. With ukip on the up.. What does dandy dave do next?

General discussion / ancestry..
January 01, 2014, 11:33:56 PM
yippee great news.. just had a family tree done and I'm delighted to say that the 'lawnseeds' are 100% irish. I had some suspicions on the maters side but I'm happy to say that we are "micks" not a single horrible haggess head planter bone in our former irish chieftain bodies..
off course we fought in the gpo and various other skirmishes against the brits throughout history. also i'm happy to note that an uncle of my grandfathers was a vice vice president of the united states of America and has several public amenities named after him..

yeah its all been downhill since ::)

General discussion / prods in the 26
December 21, 2013, 06:19:19 PM
Just been reading gramham nortons bit about growing up a prod in cork. Not great it seems he felt lonely. This is very difficult to understand for me since I always found the cork people the friendliest people on the island. I think if I had to move I'd head to cork especially the west of the county where nortons from.
This makes me think what is it like for prods in the 26? Is there ill feeling? Are they isolated? Maybe not quite as irish as their catholic countrymen? Are we on this island so fukd up that this really matters almost 100years after independance?
