GAA Discussion / Bredagh Behind the Banner
January 16, 2014, 04:03:46 PM
Should be a good event this Sunday in Belfast, in tribute to Davy Fitz, Clare & the whole 2013 Hurling Championship. Hot food too! The 'Behind the Banner' DVD, if you haven't seen it, is excellent.

Hurling Discussion / International Hurling in Galway
September 20, 2013, 11:26:51 AM
It's a bad week to be trying to get publicity with the All Ireland and everything else, but this is a great competition in Galway - the Aer Lingus International Hurling Festival with teams here from San Francisco, Australia, Europe, Argentina, etc. This is a report and short video from the Australian team based in Ballinasloe. They won yesterday, there's two more group games today and then the Finals in Pearse Stadium tomorrow - http://www.hoganstand.com/HomePage.aspx

GAA Discussion / Ulster Rugby Support for Mayo
September 20, 2013, 11:24:03 AM
I don't know if this has been in the media but Ulster rugby player Declan Fitzpatrick will be shouting for Mayo on Sunday. It's a good story in that he was born in Birmingham, played for St Brendan's up to the age of 18, seems to have been a very good player, went to the Feile in Ireland and won it in Ballybofey, he says he really misses the game and has parents from the West. Coincidentally he'll be playing in Galway on Saturday night for Ulster.

GAA Discussion / Biggest escape this year?
May 01, 2013, 05:21:55 PM
I'm thinking someone will beat this, but it's still not bad - 11 points down and they won it with the last kick. Has anyone else, club or county, come back from more to win this year? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZl3wihF5j4 - see the full story here

March 04, 2013, 05:04:03 PM
Just back from today's Danske Bank Ennis Cup Final in Cookstown where Edmund Rice and St Joseph's Donaghmore shared 19 goals, after extra-time. The lead swopped hands regularly and it went to extra-time, fantastic game. Here's just 2 of the goals, both crackers, with 17 more to come! http://www.ulstercollegesgaa.org/  PS - is this a record?

From the Creggan U-21 Tournament, Ballinderry v Donagh, think I've seen it before, one minute into the video. Someone mentioned Dinny Allen did this. So it's allowed but not encouraged or approved! http://tinyurl.com/acqpe8c
