Just saw this on HS.  Is this aimed at teams in Europe or would teams here be interested?

Den Haag Invitational, March 3rd 2012
04 January 2012

The Hague GAA club would like to extend an invitation to all Men's and Ladies Gaelic football teams to their annual 11 a-side European Invitational Gaelic Football Tournament!

A Chara,
The Hague GAA club will be holding their annual invitational tournament on the 3rd March 2012, at their grounds, in The Hague, Netherlands. It is aimed at adult football teams (men and ladies) playing at the junior level, we also have hurling again this year.

There is no better opportunity to take a trip outside of Ireland, experience the delights of The Netherlands mixed in with a good day of football. Playing 11-a-side on rugby sized pitches; teams will battle it out in a series of group matches with the strongest teams contesting for the semi finals and finals.

Building on the success of previous tournaments, Den Haag GAA club have established this event into a premier invitational tournament for visiting Gaelic clubs. Enjoy a full day of high quality football followed by a dinner and presentation ceremony and the best of Dutch night life.

The Hague is easily accessible from Ireland at a very reasonable price from Dublin, Cork, Belfast with Ryanair, Aerlingus and Easyjet. It is a 30min train ride from Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport or one hour and a half from Eindhoven airport, we can arrange transport. Accommodation can also be arranged in the Hague city centre at excellent rates.

If your club is interested in attending next year, please contact me as soon as possible by email morrismatty@hotmail.com or +31614990874 and a Den Haag GAA club member will help you organise your travel and accommodation.

I look forward to hearing that you will join us on what is hoped to be a very successful day of football.

Is Mise Le Meas,

Matthew Morris
Chairman

Den Haag GAA Club, The Netherlands

Hi all, I have a Netbook running Windows XP with Office 2007.

Where is the Speech to Text/Letter function in Word?  Would I need special equipment e.g. microphones etc. to be able to dictate letters etc so that they would be word documents?

Hand writting gone to sh**e and typing speed not much better.

If there isn't a Word function, what other software could I use and where is it available?

Thanks.

Don't know where I heard it but the English FA have said that no English players that go to the Euros will play with Team GB.

Who on the English panel could play on Team GB?  Andy Carroll?  Isn't it confined to players under 23?  Maybe Micah Richards who can't get a game on the English team.

Who won it in 2008?

GAA Discussion / Buy Irish and spend your money here
December 14, 2011, 10:05:36 AM
Am I surprised?

http://www.irishexaminer.com/ireland/all-ireland-tickets-printed-in-us-and-italy-177199.html

IT'S the most Irish of sporting occasions, one of the purest cultural platforms we retain as a nation.

So how come those priceless tickets for the All-Ireland hurling and football finals are printed in America?

What's worse is that tickets for other glamour GAA Championship matches are printed in Italy.

General discussion / WW2 Bomb in Germany
December 03, 2011, 06:41:21 PM
Just saw this on the news.  Brings home how frightening Bombing raids must be.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-16018659

Koblenz evacuated for WWII bomb removal from Rhine

The bomb came to light after water levels in the Rhine fell to record low levels

Officials in the western German city of Koblenz are evacuating about 45,000 people as work begins to defuse a World War II bomb found in the River Rhine.

Just to lighten the mood.

I was going to say Prams but I saw for the first time in a long time someone pushing a pram i.e. facing the child as they pushed.  Any other things?

General discussion / Oh, and there is a referendum.
October 21, 2011, 12:17:11 PM
On election day, there are 2 referenda.

Referendum 1 Judge's Pay i.e. allowing it be reduced in special circumstances.  Seems to be fair.

Referendum 2  Giving the Dail and Senate the power to conduct enquiries.
I suppose like the MPs enquiry into the Murdocks.  Seems to be a good thing, getting our TDs to give value for money.

The O.O. wonders why they are losing members.

Two senior Ulster Unionists, including the leader Tom Elliot, are to face disciplinary proceedings within the Orange Order for attending the funeral of murdered police constable Ronan Kerr.

GAA Discussion / Multi taskers?
September 10, 2011, 11:14:01 AM
I was just wondering who was the ultimate multi tasker?

Are there any Dublin players who will be playing in the Minor and U21 hurling finals and will also play in the Minor football final?

Are there other players who have played on multiple teams in the one calender year?

General discussion / A new Northern Ireland manager?
September 08, 2011, 10:59:16 AM
Does anyone else find it a bit distasteful the way Lawrie Sanchez is hawking for a return to the job?

He did a good job last time but would you trust him or would he just use it to get a Premiership job?

Not looking forward to the next fortnight but I'll be watching C4 tonight.  Hope it won't be all conspiracy theories.

21:00 9/11: The Firemen's Story (T) The stories of firefighters who served during the terrorist attacks in New York on September 11, 2001, who accounted for 343 of the 2,752 dead. Their bold tactic of rushing into the heart of skyscraper fires cost many lives, but also saved a great number of others. This documentary speaks to survivors and the families of those who died to explore what happened on the day, and the difficulties of the 10 years that followed.

Interesting programme on TG4 tonight.  When did the Garlic Chip become a staple of the chipper?  Would you eat it during daylight hours?

Chippers.
11.00pm. TG4.

Documentary following the Italians who settled in Ireland to set up fish-and-chip shops, with Barbato Borza travelling back to Casalattico, where many of the families hailed from. Maybe we'll find out some secret batter recipes, or what it is that makes chipper food even more delicious after midnight, especially when alcohol has been consumed. All in the interest of science, naturally.

The new government has been in power for 100 days now.

I am always surprised when people give out that nothing has really changed.  What did they expect.

But are they going in the right direction?
