Sugary donuts. They are very tasty. Don't like the ones with jam in them though.

General discussion / Teenage Cliques

I saw this on the television the other day and I was wondering... WTF?

Got me wondering then, what cliques did board members fall into? Any Goths, Emos, etc?

A tall, lean figure conducted a watching brief from the Casement Park VIP area as Tyrone beat Antrim in the Ulster Senior Football Championship on Sunday.

Linfield Safety Officer Gary Steele was there to observe at first hand the crowd control and match presentation criteria implemented by the Ulster Council on big match occasions.

The Council, along with the Ulster Branch IRFU and the Irish FA, is currently engaged in actively pursuing a strategy under the safe sports grounds banner and Steele admitted afterwards that he had been "highly impressed" by what he had witnessed.

"There was a crowd of about 18,000 there on Sunday and the occasion went off wonderfully well," said Steele.

"Soccer, rugby and GAA are still hugely supported in the province and it is imperative that we strive to ensure that the comfort and safety of our patrons remains a priority.

"The fact that I was wearing a lemon-coloured shirt was purely coincidental, but I thought that Antrim really played with great heart in the second-half."

Antrim spokesman Jim Murray said that they were delighted to have had the Linfield man as a guest on Sunday.

"We have an excellent relationship with Gary and I would like to think that he was happy with his welcome at Casement Park," said Murray, a former Antrim secretary who is currently overseeing a detailed assessment of the major GAA grounds here in relation to wireless communication facilities.

Hot pursuit ninjas save Australia mugging victim

Three muggers in Australia got the fright of their lives when their attack was interrupted by five black-clad ninja warriors.

The thieves were assaulting a German medical exchange student in Sydney, but the alleyway where they struck was next to a school for ninja warriors.

One of the pupils raised the alarm after noticing the attack.

Police say they have arrested two men and charged them with robbery, and are still looking for a third suspect.

"We just ran outside and started running at them, yelling and everything," said ninja master Kaylan Soto who instructed his students to take action.

"These guys have turned around and seen five ninjas in black ninja uniforms running towards them. They just bolted."

The victim suffered minor injuries, and the men stole his mobile phone and iPod, according to police.

Mr Soto said the man could have escaped the assault with some training in ninjitsu - a Japanese martial art. As for the attackers, "They just picked the wrong spot," he added.

General discussion / Recommended DSLRs?
May 18, 2010, 02:06:38 PM
Hi all

I'm on the market for a DSRL and I was wondering what everyone recommends. The only that caught my eye is the Sony A330, but the cheapest I saw it for was on pixmania.co.uk and it's still slightly outside my prize range. The next step down is the Sony A230, but it doesn't have the Live View screen that the A330 has.

Perhaps you can recommend something else for me instead.

The Fantasy Football is back with the Gaelic Life and I've entered a team. Going for the wooden spoon, two years on the trot ;)

I've also contacted the paper about setting up a table showing how members of the board here are doing, so hopefully I'll hear more back soon.

Maybe should be in the WTF thread... but this is... well you can see!  :-\

A grandmother has shocked her friends and family after revealing she is having a baby with her own grandson.

Pearl Carter, 72, says she has never been happier after beginning an incestuous relationship with her 26-year-old grandchild Phil Bailey.

The pensioner, from Indiana, US, is using her pension to pay a surrogate mother so they can have a child, reports New Zealand's New Idea magazine.

She said: "I'm not interested in anyone else's opinion. I am in love with Phil and he's in love with me.

"Soon I'll be holding my son or daughter in my arms and Phil will be the proud dad."

Her lover is the son of Pearl's daughter Lynette Bailey - who she put up for adoption when she was 18-years-old.

When his mother passed away, Phil tracked down his long lost grandmother and they quickly fell in love.

Pearl told New Idea magazine: "From the first moment that I saw him, I knew we would never have a grandmother-grandson relationship.

"For the first time in years I felt sexually alive."

It was during their second week together, after dinner and wine, that Pearl made her move.

"I called Phil into my bedroom, sat him on the bed, and then I leant over and kissed him," she added.

"I expected rejection but instead he kissed me back."

Phil revealed: "I wanted to kiss her there and then. My feelings were overwhelming.

"I love Pearl with all my heart. I've always been attracted to older women and I think Pearl is gorgeous. Now I'm going to be a dad and I can't wait.

"Yes, we get laughed at and bullied when we go out and kiss in public but we don't care. You can't help who you fall for."

The pair paid $54,000 (£35,000) to find a surrogate mother and buy a donor egg to inseminate with Phil's sperm.

They placed an advert asking for an open-minded surrogate, and Roxanne Campbell applied.

"Initially I was shocked," says Roxanne, 30. "But they're a brilliant pair and I saw how much they loved each other. I know the baby will be loved too."

Pearl said: "I am finally going to be a mum and not forced to give up my child. Phil's going to be a great dad.

"I never in a million years thought at 72 I'd be 'pregnant' and in love with my grandson.

"I make no apologies and I believe God's given me a second chance."

General discussion / Islamists threaten South Park
April 22, 2010, 09:51:39 AM

Muslims consider any physical representation of Muhammad to be blasphemous

Islamists have warned the creators of TV show South Park they could face violent retribution for depicting the Prophet Muhammad in a bear suit.

A posting on the website of the US-based group, Revolution Muslim, told Matt Stone and Trey Parker they would "probably wind up like Theo Van Gogh".

The Dutch film-maker was shot and stabbed to death in 2004 by an Islamist angered by his film about Muslim women.

The posting gave details about a home Stone and Parker reportedly co-own.

It also listed the addresses of their production office in California and the New York office of South Park's broadcaster, Comedy Central.

"We have to warn Matt and Trey that what they are doing is stupid and they will probably wind up like Theo Van Gogh for airing this show," warned the posting, written in the name of Abu Talhah Al-Amrikee.

"This is not a threat, but a warning of the reality of what will likely happen to them," it added.

Mr al-Amrikee later told the Associated Press the posting was not an incitement to violence. It had been published to raise awareness of the issue and to see that it did not happen again, he added.

A Comedy Central spokesman said the network had no comment.

In the 200th episode of South Park broadcast last week, Muhammad appears several times inside a bear suit. The prophets of the other main religions are also depicted, including a drug-snorting Buddha.

In 2006, Comedy Central banned Stone and Parker from showing an image of Muhammad in an episode that was intended to be part of a comment on the controversy caused by the publication of caricatures of the prophet by a Danish newspaper.

Muslims consider any physical representation of their prophet to be blasphemous and the caricatures sparked mass protests worldwide.

BBC had a slow news day, due to a quiet day in the Holylands, so they tried to rile Tyrone in another way...
