GAA Discussion / Dermot Earley
April 09, 2011, 02:09:06 PM
I read today that he ruptured his cruciate again.
Very sad to hear.
A great warrior and a smashing fella.
It's hard to see him coming back from this one.

GAA Discussion / First impressions...
February 06, 2011, 04:40:00 PM
after round 1 of the league.
It looks like we've picked up where we left off in the championship.
Close games that still have lots of good open football, high scoring and a refreshing lack of cynicism.
I've enjoyed all the games I've watched this weekend, which is all the more noteworthy because of the wet and windy conditions.
Dublin v Cork in the next round should be a cracker.

In a lot of ways, it's actually better than division 1.
Discuss.

GAA Discussion / A slap on the wrist for RTE
November 09, 2010, 04:35:13 PM
TV3 getting a greater share of the top games although live games have been reduced from 52 to 42 (which is a good idea I think).

I like the analysis on TV3 except for David Bradys constant soundbite attempts.
They actually analyse the game.
Coverage is a lot more modern I feel.
About time RTE got a kick up the hole.
Are Newstalk getting some of the radio coverage too?

GAA Discussion / Portlaoise v Kilmacud Crokes TG4
November 07, 2010, 02:57:33 PM
Disgraceful dive there by the Portlaoise 12.
He should be ashamed of himself.
Crokes coming back into it.

GAA Discussion / Official Meath Manager Thread

I think I might copy & paste the list from the Mayo thread just to confuse them.

Good interview with Joe Sheridan in the Tribune today.
Honest and to the point.

GAA Discussion / Strongest intercounty player
August 04, 2010, 01:21:19 PM
Watching the Meath-Kildare game and I was thinking is there anyone around as good as big Joe to hold off a defender and win possession at the same time.
He's animal strong.
Who would you reckon is the strongest player on your senior intercounty squad?
And before the Cavan lads start diving in with Bernard Morris we are talking about CURRENT county squads.  :D

GAA Discussion / Ticketmaster

http://www.independent.ie/sport/gaelic-football/fan-outcry-as-online-charges-heaped-on-childrenrsquos-prices-2232618.html

Can anyone tell me why they add on a €3 service charge even if you print off your own ticket?
There's no printing, postage etc. cost for them.
It's daylight robbery pure and simple.

GAA Discussion / Kicking ability
June 07, 2010, 12:48:29 AM
There seems to be an awful lot of lads kicking it as far as I can see anyway.
Some great foot passing by James Kavanagh for Kildare and assorted Louth players last night.
Plenty of long accurate ball into the Monaghan FF line today and a great pass from McQuaid for the goal.
Kissane kicking 3 points from wing back and Brian Sheehan scoring from way out the field.
A lot of scores with the outside of the boot too like Kissane and Tomás O'Sé today and Alan Costello yesterday.
Some serious scores being racked up.
Sad to see someone like Tohill being sucked into this Spillane-esque nonsense.

GAA Discussion / Ewan McKenna take a bow

Excellent article in the Tribune today about the state of Gaelic football TV analysis.
Hits the nail firmly on the head and not before time.

GAA Discussion / Penalising the stronger player
May 23, 2010, 06:14:46 PM
The Joe Sheridan goal today was a classic example of something that is creeping into the game.
Geraghty was done out of a similar goal against Dublin in 2007.
The guy who comes off best in a tussle (not that there was much of a tussle) is deemed to have fouled the other guy.
What ever happened to just letting players fight for the ball?

GAA Discussion / Liam Tolan RIP

Tragic news.
The accident happened yesterday a few hours after he lined out for Meath against Offaly.
A very talented young footballer.
Sincere condolences to his family & friends in Skryne.
