GAA Discussion / Re: McKenna Cup 2019
January 19, 2019, 11:15:30 PM
For years Armagh fans took the Mickey out of Tyrone taking the competition seriously.

Tonight Armagh fans around me were the most vulgar foul mouthed cry baby yaps I have ever seen. From encouraging James Morgan to kick Canavan in the head harder to calling Joe McQuillan every name under the sun.

Never knew they wanted to win the McKenna cup so bad.

Glad to see Armagh on the rise. If they just learnt how to tackle properly they might fare ok in division two.

Ciaran Gourley is a tremendous servant for Rock. His speed is long gone but to be soldering on at his age is an inspiration to the youth of Rock which are competing at a reasonably high standard.

Sean Corr transferred from Roes to Fianna last year - don't think he kicked a ball for the seniors.
IMHO Sean McNally Jnr could be something similar - hard worker so hope I'm wrong.

Gervin left them to go to Ardboe as well? Not really fair on a the Roes. Theres a lot of clubs in the area and a constant drain of their best players is disheartening. Are they fielding underage teams?

heard this morning from a well known brackaville referee (the one not liked in arboe) that sean mcnally transfering to coalisland.

Also heard this, out of the blue apparently or is the Rouse thing connected??

Heard this came out of the blue. On Rouse, I've heard most clubs say the same thing about him, great trainer but maybe a bit lacking when it comes to actually managing a team i.e picking the team, ingame switches? Bendyerback, I have to admit though, you're very knowledgable about things in the east, one would nearly assume you visit all the local shopkeepers each morning.

Was never the same after the Gortin boys got at him.

Lot of clubs still to appoint.

Civil war has broke out in at least one club over the appointment of a manager.

And to think there were some learned gentlemen looking mcgleenan to replace Harte........

McGleenan in my opinion is in the same bracket as Barton, a chancer.

The game definitely wasn't thrown. Derrytresk had Cathal O'Neill, a quality footballer. Rock did not.

Gourley can't go on much longer. Although it's a credit to himself that he is still leading the charge for them.

Heard Jordan is to be challenged for the Chair position but I don't think it will be an improvement if what I'm hearing is correct. Team Talk would be running the County lol. While there a great media provider and publisher of our games they still need to be an arms length organisation.

It's jobs for the boys up there anyhow, you need to be in the click to get elected into any position

Any club delegate I know is a bit strange. Sort of person you send up to get out of your own club.

. Every club in the top 7 in Tyrone have all underachieved!!!!!

Couldn't agree more.

Trillick??
But not all paying a man top dollar.
That's the real point.

7/8 teams paying dollar surely....

I was going to list the teams "I" believe/have heard are paying their management but it would take all day. Much easier to list who isnt

Fire Away ............

I know of one club who are paying their own club man. Its to be expected that outside managers are getting compensated.

id say moy v cookstown and pomeroy v clonoe will be on together probably in edendork.

I have to say I find Edendork a terrible venue for a match - too open to the elements and there is little atmosphere created during games due to the vastness of the terrace.

Surely Senior championship games should be played at venues with a bit a shelter for the patrons - I can think of 10 better venues:

Pomeroy
Omagh
Carmen
Dungannon
Dumoyle
Killyclogher
Galbally
Augher
Loughmacrory
Coalisland

Dungannon? I wouldn't put cattle on that field. There's a 6 foot drop on the breath of the pitch.

I heard that club delegates do not consult their clubs and vote on a whim which I think is ridiculous. Club delegates by definition "a person sent or authorized to represent others, in particular an elected representative sent to a conference" would suggest that the delegates have the authority to make their own decision.

Surely the delegate should be voting as instructed by their club committee?

*I was in favour of the appointment based on the lack of an alternative. This will be his last term however as I cannot foresee the big one being landed.

Fair play to them. They were fantastic against Dublin and I would love to see them do it. Derry wans are notoriously so far behind the top teams in financial development. If it means this group of talented individuals go out and perform to the best of their abilities then donate a few £.

Note to Tyrone following-please do not boo like yahoos when Connolly is introduced.
