lol you lot are laughable....few of you seem to have been at the game, so don't know what happened, yet want the Moortown man named and shamed.
I can tell you that McMahon started the row between the two players and hit his marker a dig, he then realised he messed with the wrong man.
I really hope Joe is ok, but lets not pretend he in whiter than white!
Don't know what there is to laugh about. The truth will always come out especially this time given the profile. The above is a load of cr@p and no doubt will be proven. The so called 'row' constituted of a single punch. The assailant (legal speak required!) felled the injured party from behind. Didn't take too many people too long to work out who it was when his assailant was right beside him. Agree on not naming the assailant but at the time the individual's identify was known and now subsequently the assailant's name!!
Now that the County Board will be conducting a full investigation, will the Moortown club internally discipline the assailant? Will the Moortown club be seen to be taking a stand in saying this thuggish behavior is not tolerated in 'our club'? Will the assailant play this weekend against Dromore when the injured party has his jaw wired up and can only take liquid foods? Hopefully the County Board will pursue this investigation with the same vigour as on-field incidents last year in which no player was hospitalized or injured.
What is the precedent or accepted punishment if a club's player breaks an opponent's jaw off the ball with the ball at the other end of the field? Should the club be banned from playing home games for the remainder of the year? I don't believe the club should suffer as the result of one player's actions (in a game in which there were no other incidents), however if the club don't put forward the assailant's name then what options are left to the County Board to reprimand (punish) the assailant? Could be wrong but think a Drumragh player recently took up a court case from a broken jaw received in league game.
Will not comment any further on this case. No doubt 'jimmylong' will continue to spawn lies and try to distort the facts. More importantly hope Joe is on the recovery road now and that he suffers no setbacks in getting back to his daily routine.
A former Beragh player/manager got his jaw broke in a game against Urney in an off the ball inciden a number of years ago. He took the assaliant to court and won damages. I heard a figure in terms of money but not sure how true it was.
