                        EDENDORK ST MALACHY'S GAC
                                           presents

          "COUNTDOWN TO CROKER"

AN EVENING OF CHAT & DEBATE ON THE HOT TOPICS OF THE GAA

Would you like to be the new owner of this future greyhound champion?

Get along to the Glenavon House Hotel, Cookstown, on Friday January 23rd, when Edendork St Malachys GAC will host a gala chat evening 'Countdown To Croker' featuring Tyrone and Dublin legends from the '95 final. The greyhound pup is just one of the many items which will be auctioned on the big night, proceeds going towards the rebuilding of Edendork clubhouse, destroyed in an arson attack. Above, Austin Kelly, Edendork GFC, receives the pup from Peter Bayne (representing Mr Paddy Owens, who donated the pup). Also pictured is well known greyhound personality Mr Brenden Gervin who has kindly agreed to look after the pup.
The pup is three and a half months old and is a son of leading sire Ningbo Jack. His mother is from the much sought after breeding line of Staplers Jo and has already thrown winners in her previous two litters.
Anyone wishing to place a bid for the pup should telephone
07841 927437.

Tyrone / Countdown to Croker Chatshow 23rd January 2009
January 12, 2009, 12:49:49 PM

What really happened at Croke Park on that infamous day back in 1995 when Charlie Redmond remained on the field after being sent off in the All-Ireland final against Tyrone?

The mystery could finally be solved when the two men at the centre of one of the GAA's most enduring controversies come face to face later this month.

Former Dublin star Redmond and the man who had to send him off twice, referee Paddy Russell, will be special guests at a chat show being run by Tyrone club Edendork St Malachy's.

Also on the panel at Cookstown's Glenavon House Hotel on Friday 23 January will be one of the Tyrone players who featured in that final, Mattie McGleenan.

And to add further spice to the mix on what promises to be a fascinating evening of debate, former Derry star and RTE pundit Joe Brolly will take his place on an illustrious panel.

The man charged with refereeing this particular fixture, entitled 'Countdown to Croker', will be compere Mark Sidebottom of BBC, who will no doubt explore a wide range of  pressing issues affecting the GAA.

The evening's central theme will be the fierce rivalry that has developed between Tyrone and Dublin, and will set the scene for the forthcoming NFL opener between the counties, which is expected to attract a sell-out crowd to Croke Park.

"The GAA is using the Dublin v Tyrone game to launch its 125th anniversary celebrations, but the unofficial launch will take place in Cookstown on January 23," said event co-ordinator Austin Kelly of Edendork St Malachy's GAC.

"We have a superb line-up of personalities for our chat show, and it is sure to be an intriguing evening of discussion and debate.

"The Tyrone-Dublin theme will throw up many views and maybe a few revelations, but many other topics will be up for discussion."

Tickets for 'Countdown to Croker' are currently on sale at just £10, and the proceeds from the evening will go towards the rebuilding of the Edendork clubhouse, which was destroyed in an arson attack recently. Ticket enquiries: 07841 927437.

We would be glad of your support lads !!!
