Wasn't at the game, so I can't comment on the specific incidents referred to.

What I will say is that I hate to see fellow Armagh Gaels come in for personal abuse on this public forum. It is well out of order.

As for others encouraging the ref to jack it in, or stating that he is not fit for the job, a word to the wise - we are not exactly coming down with referees in the County! And with discussions like this, that is not likely to change anyway soon!

So nobody is allowed to comment on an absolute p***k who thinks he is god gift.  The list on Quigley is as long as your and I'd nearly rather see a game not played than refereed by this idiot.

Correct me if I'm wrong but has this Smith boy not been involved in incidents before

Maghery v Carrickcruppen  a couple of years ago,  Was he not involved in a row in Tir an Og a while back either when he wasnt even refereeing.

From what I hear from talking to other people, he thinks he is the hard man and full of smart remarks

The question here though is why are county players more deserving of additional help than people who aren't? I myself see no reason at all, although I will acknowledge the GPA initiative, but I think we spend too much time pitying players when the country is falling down around the place. I can assure you if the perceived worst comes to the worst for these lads  there will be plenty of room on the NY and London teams for these players and they can still carry on playing inter-county sport, espeically in London with the added advantage of the NFL and NHL. You never know, Mickey Harte might even get the World Cup he keeps rambling on about.

Exactly.

Should businesses bow the knee to county players who are out of work and give them any job they want without even been interviewed?  I know its highlighting the plight currently been faced but county players are in the same boat as hundreds of thousands of other people at the minute

Saying I had nothing to do on a glorious Sunday evening,  I decided to make the trip down to Dromintee to see what was on offfer and from the first throw in there was onlt one winner.

Mullaghbawn are a poor poor side and surely are in contention for relegation this year.  Nearly all of their points were from placed balls and never looked a threat from open play.  The thing about Mullaghbawn is they drag any decent team down to their level.   I think in the second half Dromintee were 6 or 7 points up and I looked at the Mullaghbawn defence and they still had three forwards sitting back.  If Dromintee had of taken half their chances they would have been coasting at half time and would have won it easier than they did.

Was impressed with M O'Rourke yesterday and the number 15 played rightly also.

I was Reading the IN yesterday and had a great wee chuckle reading the column about the referees.  Is there anybody hear going to be standing at the gates waiting on the bowl Mr Hearty for a meet and greet?

mallon       donaghy       mckeown

kernan       vernon        mckeever

   mcgrane  toner

mcclelland    mallon      toal

k orourke     clarke      mcdonnell

Obviously just home from the Pub

What is this fascination with Peader Toal?

Didn't write here last night because I struggled to come up with something to describe Armagh's performance.  I think "lacking serious quality" in key areas of the pitch is the best way to describe it.  How anyone can defend the midfielders yesterday is beyond me.  Couldn't catch, couldn't get on the ball, couldn't tackle, misjudged countless kickouts no matter how good or how poor they were.  Unbelievable and what is more unbelievable is that the management sat and looked at this for the entire 70 minutes.  Was Gareth O'Neill on the bench?  Was he not worth a look?  Lavery, no harm to the lad, but he was shocking. Couldnt jump for the ball and neither did Charlie thus giving Monaghan a easy platform  for playing quality ball into the FF line.  McClelland was lost at 6 and the full back line got an awful roasting,  Up front, Kevin O'Rourke was the best on the day, Brian Mallon, who was poor in the first half, came into it well in the second half and Clarke showed glimpses despite been practically raped and getting no protection whatsoever from that clown of a referee.  McDonnell was nowhere and had no impact on the game whatsoever.  Did anyone else notice him telling Micheal O'Rourke to leave the sideline ball to him and goes and kicks it with the outside of his LEFT foot straight to Conor McManus, said it all.

I think the management have lot to answer for, Cross players or no Cross players missing.  Why was the midfield not changed immediately at the start when it was blatantly obvious they were getting roasted.  Why the hell did they persist on bringing our most dangerous forward out to play midfield.  Henderson was hiding the whole game and at this level you will not win balls behind your man.  To say they have alot of work to do is a massive understatement!

Which one of the Cross defenders will pick up Vaughan? Paul Kernan, Paul McKeown? If Cross get on top in midfield it will be a long day for Crokes, but there is a possible weakness there, David McKenna will have to have a big game. He seems to be stepping up to the plate recently, Cross need that to continue.

I'd expect Paul McKeown to pick him up.

It would be quare craic if Francie was marking him..... Vaughan could get grooming tips from a fellow ginge :D

I would expect Skinny McKeown to be picking him up.  Think he will be sent out to follow Vaughan everywhere he goes and he will not give him an inch.

No there were 4 sent off the day 3 straight reds and UUJ player for two bookings.  From what I saw of the Courtney incident it looked like a shambolic decision as he was running out with the ball and the UUJ player seemed to run into him as he was turning.  It was certainly no worse a tackle than the one from the second UUJ player to be sent off and it only got a second yellow.  On that and I hate to go back to the referee but his application of the rules today was far from consistent and that was what to me made him a poor referee and probably led to him to loosing control of the game. At one stage he ticked a fella for kicking out after he had been pushed over the sideline. That said fair play to UUJ they were excellent all over the pitch and fairly deserving of their win.  As for why Courtney didnt start I believe he had a hamstring injury, at least that was the talk in Wexford on Sunday.

Thats Paudie for you though,  Wants to be centre stage in everything and answering both players and manners back in a way which doesnt do him any favours(only way of putting it nicely)  Strutting round the field thinking he is the man

That been said, there must be serious serious  ass licking done for a joke(again put nicely) to get games like that!
