The GAA have excelled again with some bright spark having the Offaly hurlers playing in Thurles and finishing a half hour before the footballers in Tullamore.
Surely Dual supporters are livid at this. Id say a very poor turnout is expected in Tullamore on saturday evening.
Which will be good for Down as home advantage will be barely non existent.
Another great decision by the GAA. do they emply the old FAI muppets

GAA Discussion / Re: Future of Croke Park
June 25, 2008, 09:05:09 PM
i  have ben to a lot of great stadiums all over the world. Croke park is a great stadium but has 3 main faults. The roof doesnt cover the bottom tier. the front of the bottom tier isnt sloped enough for a goood view, canal end anyway. The hill just looks stupid.

I wouldnt put a fully closed roof on it though, just enough to cove the seated areas. a 96,000 would be full about 3 times a year. i doubt if even the hurling final could fill that most years.

its a bit like Old Trafford with the railway holding futre expansion up. Supposedly when complete it will hold 98,000, and will be biggest in Europe.

Is Grave yard Sunday all ticket. ;D ;D ;D

Has Clones ever been sold out for a semi. Would be great to see though.it would show Ulster football is still important even if the other championships are non starters, apart from the Dub full houses, but nothing worse than being on the hill with those scummers snorting and puking

nothing worse than a bird in a GAA Jersey. O'Neills dont do the ladies jerseys like the soccer and rugby crowd.
I think Tyrones lady following are pretty easy on the eye.

What must be really annoying to Armagh, no matter how much their fans are building the Team up for Sunday. Is the fact that no matter who they decide is their biggest Enemy, Tyrone have twice as many all Ireland Titles and Down have 5 times as many.
Best of luck on sunday Lads. Oh yeah you dont need it. It will obviously be a cake walk to the super power of Ulster football.
Tell me how does it feel to be the 4th Best team in Ulster and thats only because A comes before D.

T Fearon. How could Down be referred to as Portsmouth or Cardiff. I think you need a history lesson. Down would be more a kin to the Mighty Manchester United. 5 All Ireland titles would suggest that to Armaghs 1 and tyrones 2.

do all the talking and build up you want Lads. Down have already beaten the best in Ulster. We will do our talking on the field. We have nothing to lose unlike Armagh. After all we are only a little division 3 team.
So keep building Armagh up, as they have done so much to deserve it.

Is it true whoever gets knocked out on sunday will be in the same qualifier draw along with the teams that got knocked out in the last round. If so thats rediculous, whats the point in getting to the semi if your still only at the same level as Longford and Roscommon.
So by that, we could see Down v Tyrone or Armagh v Cavan again.
The GAA havent been clear on this.

good luck in the qualifiers lads. hope we can meet again at croker when the rest of the world will be able to see what we witnessed in Omagh and Newry. Fpootball at its heart wrenching nail biting best. Also witha Down victory of course.

GAA Discussion / Re: Attendances this year
June 21, 2008, 08:27:55 PM
i think the GAA always give a lower attendance than there is. Tax dodging at its best. Hard to give an exact crowd when 3 ends of the ground is terraces.
I thought there was also more in Newry last saturday night than 18,400.

chances are if you beat a tyrone or meath you then might have derry, armagh or down the next day out. staying in the province is the way forward

Had a feeling that would stir the old pot again ;D. Realistically, cant wait until next sunday, i hope it has the makings of a classic in the same way as the 2 tyrone games.
My worry is Downs inexperience, i just hope we perform to our capabilities. Hope the ref doesnt kill the game. anyone know who it is yet.
The Wexford ref gave Derry a very soft penalty tonight which could have killed the game.
This tie has been a while in the coming.
