GAA Discussion / Re: Armagh Vs Dorty Dubs

Perhaps the GAA should invest in a Jon Joe Sat Nav for this gent. The Brits should have a lot of detailed maps of the cross area which they are no longer using perhaps the GAA should approach them to buy these as a job lot. Incidental will he be the referee for the rematch? How the hell can he be considered in any way efficient as a referee if he can't find his way to the town where the game is being played.

For an organisation that is so concerned with finances the GAA have always had a cavalier approach towards cash control. In the days of the guys with the bags handing out tickets off a roll you might have expected that there would have been a reconciliation between the cash and the number of tickets issued. Not a bit of it.
On the matter in hand I was at Cross today entering by the Cullavile Road end. As we approached the turnstile the was some confusion as to wether the match was off. They were still taking money. i asked the man behind the stile if the match was off. He replied that no one had told him officially that the match was off. They were still prepared to take money at this stage. Surely as soon as the match was called off either officially or unofficially the stile men should have been communicated with immediately to tell them to take no more money.
Also the association or the county board should have a contingency in place to ensure that refunds could be made where appropriate. But maybe the paying public do not matter.

Where is the point of continuing this argument. We live in a changing world. The GAA is semi professional in any case - advertising products, holiday funds etc. All sports have gone through this phase, rugby, tennis athletics etc. Anyhow it will soon be the case that a footballer with any talent will be playing Aussie rules. Take a look at the anti crowd at their meeting in Toome or wherever, They wouldn't look out of place at an Ulster Says No or a Love Ulster rally. They are the Jim Allisters of the GAA. Move on for Christs sake. Some people are trying to hold back the tide with a pitchfork. Even if this scheme is knocked on the head something else will replace it, probably more sinister.

GAA Discussion / Re: NFL Div. 2

Point differences could still be used but disregard any matches played against Cork for the purpose of calculating points differences. Cork as I mentioned previously would automatically go to the bottom of whatever points group they are within. This seems to me to be the most fair and equitable solution. But from my experience fairness and equability are qualities which our beloved association are often bereft. On the broader picture I think it is high time that rules were introduced to deal with a similar situation should one arise. One ruling I would make is that if a team did not fulfil two or more fixtures without due cause, is that where appropriate they be automatically relegated.

I would suggest that if Cork end up with the same number of points as any other team(s) they be they be treated as having the worst points difference than any of that group. This would solve the problem regarding their promotion or relegation. It would however not solve the problem of the points difference of the teams whom they did not field against. This I'm afraid will be an insoluble problem and one which we will have to live with.
