Left for various reasons - Mark and David Brennan of Collon - think Mark is off to America. Christy Grimes of Collon also. JP Rooney of Monasterboice is off to China I think (but was at the game as a spectator yesterday) and Nicky McDonnell..

I've been told there was a burst-up of some sort at half-time in the Wexford game and the players leaving was a follow-on from that.

Delighted with the team and reaction since that game, some of the young players look to have great potential. Hopefully, we can build on this come the league and into next year's championship.

GAA Discussion / Re: Where now for Galway?????

GalwayBayBoy,

Exactly the conversation we had in the pub before the games today - I think Connaught football is at a low ebb and would be suprised to see Sligo make any impact in the QF's.. Have to say I nearly fell off the seat with some of the kicking by Sligo in the Connaught final but they still managed to win it despite themselves..

Stayed on for the first half of the Galway game today and there is a strange mix of old and young on the team. Watched the 2nd half in the pub and dragging on the battled-hardened veterans looked like a desperate throw of the dice. To me, it looks like Galway need to move on and rebuild. I think the GAA needs a strong Galway and Mayo team..

Some valid points there but wouldn't be in full agreeance. At the game today and have to say that Cork did look a very fit team but I think this was also combined with some good running football for that period in the second half. Though Louth battled well and hung in there and finished strongly.

I feel McEnaney has made progress this year - brought the wee lad onto the pitch in Newbride last week for the warm-down and the spirit in the team seemed spot-on. I think the Wexford game may have been something of a water-shed and think McEnaney came out of it well. Having said that, it was depressing to see none other than JP Rooney dressed in a Louth jersey  and tucking into a bag of chips oustide a chippers in Portlaoise this evening while walking back to the car!!

As regards the league, I'm one of those that never puts too much weight on what happens in the league but the thoughts of Division 3 this year doesn't thrill me - I would be a bit worried about the level of football there...

GAA Discussion / Louth - Signs of improvement
July 21, 2007, 09:59:08 PM
Just can't let the day go without congratulating Louth on a good year. Fair enough, we were beaten today but kept Cork to within a kick of the ball.

Fair play to the lads and thanks for keeping the summer football going so long - definite signs of improvement this year...

thechampishere,

I doubt RTE even know who is playing next week...
I'd say it'll be announced on Sunday or maybe early next week...

Given that it's late July and Louth are out of the Championship, I suppose I'll support...

Hold on a second - Louth are still in the Championship.. how the hell did that happen?

My theory is that due to the crap weather, the Louth players haven't realised as of yet that it's summer. Praying for snow come Saturday...

Hardy,

All ticket ok. Tickets on sale through ticketmaster but they only have terrace tickets.
I assume stand tickets went to the clubs but I didn't bother looking..

Terrace EUR20 + booking fee (around 2 Euro)
Kids are EUR5 + EUR1 booking fee

Don't think they'll sell out too quick especially now the second game is confirmed for TV.

As a Louth man with tickets for the match, I couldn't care less but wasn't suprised to see the Meath Galway game covered.

Was in Kildare last week and struggled to see Paddy Keenan's goal due to the sun in my eyes.
Was looking forward to seeing the highlights on the Sunday game, my rational being that given there were only 4 qualifiers - they should have some sort of decent highlights...

In fairness, the RTE cameraman there managed to capture the event brilliantly in that he somehow managed to just catch Keenan's shot hitting the net but it was somewhat hard to see due to the sun shining in the one hand-held camera. Absolutely joke coverage once again....
