September 29, 2009, 12:47:11 AM
Obviously with the positive news for Down of Marty Clarke heading back to home, has anybody heard whats the story re Pearse Hanley, was he offered a senior contract with Brisbane Lions?  Did he tog out for Ballaghdereen last Sunday in Mayo Senior Championship.

Sorry folks, hit wrong button there and posted a half baked reply to the board, I was saying ---------------, personally I think O'Mahony should be left there for as long as he wants it, I have full confidence in him to deliver if its possible to deliver!!  Really looking forward to qfinal, I think it will be Limerick.  Im worried about G Cafferkey rumour, as somebody else said how the hell did his name appear on an Aussie rules discussion forum!! I really felt we had the full back position nailed.  Does anybody know how P Hanley is doing, has he been offered a full contract for next season?

Hi all,  Havent posted in a long while but always keep up to date with discussion on this forum.  Im probably repeating what has been posted previously but, im confident we have turned the corner with win over Galway, at least it means O'Mahony will be left in post for another few years if he wants it, personally,

Barney,

I have'nt posted in a long time but keep up to date with the discussion on the board, I've noticed for some time now you appear to be consistently criticising O'Mahony, you appear to suggest there has been no progress under him, I disagree.  It is well known that Mayo got to 2 handy All Irelands in 2004 and 2006, they were not the 2nd best team in the country at either time, our defence was cut open on both occasions, and our forwards shown that they were lacking a little bit of class thats needed to win All Irelands.  A rebuilding job had to be undertaken, Johno has I believe trawled the county to unearth new talent, gave them a fair trial during the league this season and last and unfortunately through no fault of his own, we appear to be back to a veteran defence for the short term.  Are you suggesting that if we loose on Sat, (however Im confident Mayo will run Tyrone very close on Sat, if not actually win), we should change Management again! I am of the opinion, he should be left there aslong as he has the appetite for it, this is year 2 in a 4 year project.
