Antrim / Re: ANTRIM HURLING

I was talking to someone involved with the minors, apparently 3 lads tested positive for Covid and some of the others had to isolate as close contacts. Leinster council were asked for a postponement but refused and put Antrim into the lower competition. :-\
Precedent set by the Leinster council, I wonder would it happen to Kilkenny or Galway?

After a great league a poor championship, today was brutal as was the under 20s.
Could anyone on here explain what the hell is going on with the minors? Bizarre situation.

I have been watching Antrim for a very long time, that is the best league performance since the early nineties. I had substantial doubts about Darren Gleeson when he was appointed, I am happy to have been proven wrong.
Well done to Darren and everyone else involved, superb effort.

I see the EHIC- Health Insurance Cards, are to be honoured until their expiry dates and then a UK version is due to come in 2021.
What does this actually mean?
Is Boris picking up the tab for Brits in hospital in Europe free of charge?
What about Leo's promise to stand over EHIC cards for us Nordies? How where to do we apply for one from Dublin?

Big match tomorrow. Limerick rightly favourites but I have a sneaky suspicion that Waterford might spring a surprise. Thats where my fiver is going anyway. Waterford to run the legs off them.

All the best to the team tomorrow. Played really well this year and all credit to Darren Gleason and the players. Antrim have had their best year in a very long time and i hope tomorrow they can finish it off on a high. Shame we cant get down to watch it.

Lennon needs to resign. Simple as.

If he wants success for the club this year, he needs to hand in his notice.
If he resigns he wont get a payday. Who would Celtic replace him with?
Eddie Howe? Flowing football and available.

Limerick lost 3 championship games in 2019

Hardly makes them the best team of 2019

They look to be a different proposition this year and winning the provincial crown gives them and KK an advantage this year which in other years would be a hindrance.

My money is on a Waterford v KK semi-final with Waterford coming out on top on a dry sod in Croke Park.

The other is Galway v Limerick and as TJ Ryan says, that one is like a deaf dog, hard to call but the eventual AI winner comes out of it.

Down in the CR final this weekend, after beating Offaly, they'll be hot favourites and that has never been something a Down team has been used to.

The Joe Mcdonagh final must be the following week, Antrim v either Kerry or Carlow with both duking it out for the chance to play in the final.

The Joe McDonagh final is the curtain raiser for the All Ireland final in December, I suspect it will be Antrim v Carlow but who knows. As for this weekend I am tipping Galway and for no good reason Clare. Given the quality of my tipping Waterford and Tipperary folk will be happy enough!

Out of curiosity, that's 11 hours without a goal. Have you or anyone you know sat through all 11 hours? If you have fair play that is serious commitment. Plus you need your head looking at  ;D

This match is so bad it is strangely compelling  ;D. Both teams are so bad that i keep expecting one of them to do something awfully stupid to give away a goal. So far Darren Randolph has come closest!

Ref gives a penalty after consulting with the umpire for a pickup off the ground.

Weren't there posters saying this couldn't be done three weeks ago?

Was the wrong call, Cavan fullforward came from behind the line, so two technical fouls

As for the umpires it's still not their call, they didn't blow the whistle, so the question is why did the ref blow?

He went to his umpire before making the call, the foul committed was a pick up off the ground and that's what the penalty was awarded for after consultation with the umpire.

If the same thing had happened in Ballybofey it was a Tyrone penalty.

He blew his whistle. The umpires don't have whistles, you do know that? The umpires don't make those decisions, you know the rules?

So the penalty shouldn't have stood?  Didn't know the rule about coming from behind the line.

Was outside the line to gain advantage free out. But hey Angelo will tell me different, he knows the rules ya know!

Does that apply in hurling Milltown? And if so when did the rule change? We were always coached to stand behind the line for 70s and keep the ball in play if it was going wide. Never saw it blew for a free in my life. Saw it blew for a square ball if you came into play too soon but that's another rule.

Serious collapse from Galway. As i said earlier never bet against Cody/Kilkenny. How they won that god only knows. Fancy a Limerick v Kilkenny final now. We will see how tomorrow goes but Limerick have been by far the most impressive team so far.

Well done to Antrim today. That would be Antrim in the final wouldn't it? In fairness to Gleeson I wouldn't have been a fan of the appointment due to off field issues but he has done an excellent job. Are Antrim unbeaten all year?

Down beat Offaly on penalties in the Christy ring. That's unexpected.
Unexpected but great to see. Well played Down. Feel slightly for Offaly as they would be my favourite county outside Antrim. Another year in the Christy Ring for Offaly, will Fennelly stay on?
