Any word from within the new county panel as to how the new recruits are coming along?

As a GPA member, and hopeful recipiant of the new grant I am happy enough. Had it not been agreed I would have happy enough as long as it didn't interfere with me playing for my county next year. By the way before I get an ear-full I voted against strike but would have followed the majority vote!

This is the first time i've commented on the issue and lads, let me tell you, you's live in a wonderland and I wish I could operate in the purest world you think exists! I get grief in work for leaving to attend training weekends (out of my annual leave), specialist appointments with injury, coming in injured. Even though I had a very bad injury involving 3 bone breaks and only missed 1 day. So tell me that hasn't interfered with promotion etc and that's fair enough but I have been quite bluntly told otherwise!

But I don't care about the money I play for the love of the game and who/what I get the opportunity to represent. But it will be nice to get the grant as an added bonus!

Croke park pay for flight and accomodation as far as I know. That's what happens for national league games!

I'd love to try this out just for comparative reasons having played in a number of positions this year. But it would obviously vary depending on the opposition and the system management decide on for any given game. It'd be interesting all the same!

What were those games in?

5times, I've read a few chapters and found it interesting but haven't read the whole book. I don't know how the libel cases went or whole all took them, but still worth the read i'd say. I'm just not a big reader.

Excuse my ignorance but who are the 2 fella's you mentioned? Why are they currently not on the panel?

When I was told about this I asked how do you qualify for it?
Is not going to be handed out to every county player, you will have to submit receipts with there being a max depending which bracket you are in. Most of these expenses are currently covered by co boards. For example gym membership, equipment such as boots, training gear, physio treatment. So most players will not actually have too much of a claim and the bill will not be what is thought. The perception is that every player will receive a cheque in the post when named on their count panel!

Why are an Armagh and Tyrone team being taken to derry for a game? Is this not a home fixture for the Armagh team? Though carrickmore/Woody may have more away with the Ulster council!

That interview is very typical of him, very level headed, keeps it simple and to the point! When that man talks the kildare players will listen and believe me the honesty he brings will have the hairs standing on the back of their neck from the 1st day they meet him. I wish him all the best

Its not too long ago a few fella's I know were doing the same in London, flying back and forward for hurling games.

From what i've been told I believe in the 70's it was a joke the amount of fella's in the border area that played in Armagh and Monaghan.

I've been told on a few occassions about a relegation play-off in Armagh and the Monaghan senior fullback was marking the Armagh senior fullforward. The week before they had played together in the railway cup! He had actually won a Monaghan senior championship that year so he a high enough profile player.
