Ah but in all seriousness. He was down on the sideline,

When? AFAIK he was not on the sideline and did not leave the stand enclosure untill half time! These cowboys who are incharge of running our games are doing their best to ruin them............power struggle of the highest order and the suits are to blame! What did the GAA ever do without the cccc? A total pain in the arse and a joke- their appeals system is nonsense too. Jobs for the boys.

eh, excuse me mr kane - what with all the leppin about, assaulting fourth officials, arguing with your own supporters, flouting the sideline ban on tv and given that in all likelihood Mr Carr's ban will be reimposed, how much of a clown are you to still go into the changing rooms at half time and therefore probably leave your team with no match day management for the rest of the summer?

Fair play to DJ for having the balls to stand up, be counted and deliver a wake up call to the down boys- he obviously had an effect on them- nothing about being a clown-the man is a winner and passionate about Down......maybe DJ could give Geezer a few tips with motivating his team! The GAA are making awful tits out of themselves with all this nit picking- especially when they are reacting to the media! They should be thanking Kane for having a hand in getting them another pay day!  :o ;)

I cannot be 100% sure, but my understanding is that for full house games, entrance to the Canal Terrace can only be gotten to via the back of the Stand and  not via the Town Terrace.

Correct. The Canal End is closed off from the Town Terrace with entrance as western has said via the turnstiles on the Far left (stand side) as you walk to the ground. I haven't heard anything to suggest any different on Saturday. Luck of the draw i suppose.

Opposite the stand is the Town Terrace.
Yes ground looks great, very simialr to the job done at Omagh, although I hear the pitch is seriously over-used.

You heard wrong......for the money that was spent on it, it should be fit for more traffic than it gets!

That decision is absolute horseshit....Harte was pulling and dragging and stopping Cole from moving forward- the arm (not elbow) was to shrug off (most players on here will agree to this) Harte from halting him further as it was clear up until then Cole wasnt getting a free. Unfortunate incident and nasty injury but imo an accident. To be fair to Cole- how could he tell where Harte's head was? Cole is not the sort to get involved in shite like that- even though previous record etc doesnt come into something like this! Terrible decision- where will they draw the line? If the Meath Dublin row and Fergal Doc had not happened then i doubt we would be discussing this! How does the ccc justify this sort of decision when Geraghty for example was not investigated last year after he hit his man a sneaky and very deliberate box when he went down for a ball? Absolute jokers the whole lot of them. They are going to make a mess of the entire championship if they continue their crusade! Are they going to ensure all chamionship games are televised? Will they decide to deal with incidents depending on the 'experts' views on the sunday game?

but you see the lights on nearly every night of the week for sombody's training use.
[/quote]

Hardly! Yes the pitch is a mess (compared to what it once was in the Summer) because it has had alot of games played on it in harsh conditions but to say the pitch is being used for training is wrong- the hurlers trained on it, the u -21s had a quick session on it and to the best of my knowledge the shamrocks trained on it a while back! The CB have insisted on playing all sorts of games on it recently when it needed a rest, but to be fair they have got good useage out of it and it was only a matter of time before a game was going to be called off! Tyrone also has to move their game so it is not unique to ourselves.

Good job I checked the board before going to the game. I am sure www.downgaa.net will be updated during the week.
Why couldnt the game be switched to Newcastle tomorrow?

The limerick boys were hardly gona sleep on the bus tonight! Would have been quite a costly stay over i would imagine!

How could he have walked EARLIER? Ridiculous comment. Strutting about??? He plays with pride and passion and high quality. He has every right to hold his head high. Talk about knitpicking.. Your just looking for reasons to dislike him ffs.

I said what had to be said and I didnt condone Ohara actions in my post. But the Down crowd are more like soccer fans than GAA. Hostile and overreacting to everything. Ref was being influenced so damn right O Hara had a few words in his ear. I thought the ref did well though considering every correct free for Sligo a hug roar of disapproval from main stand erupted. Talk about blinkered vision. 8)

If anyone is knitpicking it seems to be you, crying about the crowd! - To quote you 'O Hara had a few words in his ear' Enough said! Your entire reply there smacks of 'blinkered vision'. BTW i dont dislike O Hara, by all acccounts i hear he is a right fella and a very good footballer but the few occassions i have seen him play he loses the run of himself (as i said earlier). I find your comments about the crowd quite inaccurate, yes the crowd made their presence known- and rightly so, it aint tennis we are playing! To describe the crowd as hostile is over the top- there is never any problem with the down support- never has been. Yes, O Hara is a passionate guy which is great to see, so are Down people- so if its ok in your book for O Hara to have a go at the ref then what is your problem with the crowd doing it?  Sour Grapes?

The roar when Ohara gets fouled and got sent off was unbeleivable and the abuse from the Down supporters towards him made me very angry. Any decision free or no free the down crowd was roaring at the ref too and it started to influence him.

To be fair, O Hara was acting the p***k throughout the game, he could have walked earlier on, his constant yapping, especially at referees is something he seems to be at alot! He was strutting about last night as if he was some sort of god and when he was put on his arse he didnt like it- if you are going to give it, then you must be able to take it. Whether he was being fouled or not, he struck with the elbow- his unwillingness to leave the field of play added to the crowds dislike for him and then his arrogance to stand on the line even after sligo selectors had tried to remove him was unbelieveable! For such a good footballer he seems to lose the run of himself when he should be leading his team!

In my opinion, Murtagh seems to be the single most hungriest and fearsomely competitive player on the Down team at the moment. Centre half back is a crucial position on any team. It caters for a solid rock of a man and I can see Murtagh fitting in there no problem.
As for people critiscising his tackling technique. What a load of bollocks.

He is indeed DF. Murtagh has an edge to him that sadly is missing in alot of our players especially the more established men. The fella wants to win and does not lie down- he has the potential to be a good leader on the pitch and hopefully will improve again on a good season for down last year. I have never seen much of a problem with his tackling- he has a good presence in the back line and is a threat on the break- a half forwards nightmare...the only other candidate for CHB would be Doyle- he is needed somewhere in Defence. Colgan is maybe an option, but supposidly he doesnt do the whole backline thingy!!! :D

I read that article- he said that a few months after he collapsed Quinn said no matter what the outcome was that Sunderland would see his contract out- as in he would get paid even iif he was unfit to play on.......i wonder if this will happen now after he decided to take it upon himself to say what he did. I think clubs are only expected to pay the first 6 months after such an incident? I'd say if it was left up to Keane he would be hung out. Silly boy
