Laois, you select new golfers every week. You don't stick with them all year. Get rid of your NA ones!!

pick new players

So you pick new players every week? but why do you pick 2 A players and only use one and 4 B and only use 2 and same with C players? would it not be just easier pick 1 A 2 B and so on?whats the point of picking 2 A but only using1?Im confused

You actually can change your A player , B players and C players for every round. So in effect you are picking a panel of 8 for the week, but a fourball that will gather you points every day.

Example

i pick Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson for the week from pool A. They are my 'A' players for the week. On Thursday I give Tiger the start, but he shoots a 76. I can then bring Mickelson on as a sub for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Or if Tiger goes back to form with a  66 on Friday, I can swap him back in for Saturday etc. etc.

Have a look at the rules link on the top right coner of the page, because some of the scoring is quite funny. Each round is actually a seperate game. In my above example, if Tigers 76 leaves him more than 10 shots behind the leader, I get 0 points for that round. The round of the day EACH DAY gets 20 points. A shot behind the round of the day (NOT NECESSARILY THE TOURNAMENT LEADER) gives 18 points, 2 shots 16 points etc.

To be even more detailed about it consider this example.

Thursday (Best Round of the Day 64)
PlayerScorePoints
Jay Haas64(Round of the Day)20
Ernie Els6616(2 behind Round of the day)
Tiger Woods750 (More than 10 behind)

Friday (Best Round of the Day 65)
PlayerScorePoints
Jay Haas800 (More than 10 behind Round of the Day)
Ernie Els718(6 behind Round of the day)
Tiger Woods6618 (1 behind)

Saturday (Best Round of the Day 64)
PlayerScorePoints
Jay Haas752 (9 behind Round of the Day)
Ernie Els780(more than 10 behind Round of the day)
Tiger Woods6616 (2 behind)

So coming into Sunday Jay Haas woud have 22 points, but be on +3 for the tourney (if we assume par 72)
Ernie would have 24 points and be on -1 for the Tournament while
Tiger would have 34 points and -9, despite never having the best round.

You can go through the rule page on the fantasy golf sight.

It seems you can only use each player 10 times throughtout the season. If you use a player who does not make the cut for the weekend he is still considered to have been used once. I take it that you pick your players than use a player who is active for each tournament. Can you drop a player because he is not in  particular tourney and pick someone else up to use in their place...I believe so.

First time doing the golf so will see how it goes.

I think that's correct Harp, re the 10 times rule. But i think there is no limit about picking your weekly squad other than that. You may, if you wish select a new squad each week, and make sure that every one is playing that week. (Assuming you adhere to picking Tiger, for example, a maximum of 10 times per season.

This fell all the way down to page 7. Are people still doing it? I think it's quite good actually, even though I forgot to change it in time for last weeks tournament. Pity there isn't a weekly matchup element to it, like the NFL and MLB ones though.

It's good fun, needs a bit of time to check who is playing and who  makes the cut, the American games are harder, I am not up in time to make the changes!

Yeah, changing for 10am is tough, especially when they don't tee off until about 3 pm our time. The round before is only just finished a few hours at that stage :)

I'm enjoying it. Usually make the changes the night before the round starts.
