Naw your not MS extended the warranty to 3 or 5  years can't remember which . You have to post it to Germany and you'll have in back with in 2 weeks if it happens at no expense too yourself

Don't buy one till next week. Word has it the prices are coming down significantly with the arcade pack being brought down to wii price and the other ones (premium / elite) also coming down in price.

Microsoft are apparently struggling with sales in Europe / Japan and this is an initiative to help it.

Its a lifetime warranty. You dont have to send it away. Simply keep your receipt and the place you bought it will replace it immediately as the Microsoft warranty covers them too.

Dont buy a PS3. I have both and the X-box 360 is by far the superior machine, with superior games. The only advantage the PS3 has is Blue Ray, but SKy movies HD has come down to 149 now so you dont need Blu ray to watch HD movies.

Thats a bit of a silly thing to say,Sky Movies don't always have the movies you want so what happens if you wanna watch a movie on HD that isn't on Sky...
Buy the PS3  Far superior games and with the added bonus of bluray

Buy a PS3

Why do you say that LL. I know nothing about either really but I did some research recently as I was thinking of buying one of them and all the independant research was in favour of the X box. This is based on....

- The X Box is cheaper.
- Graphics processor is better in X Box
- More games and better games for x box.

I know this is an old argument doing  the rounds, just interested to know why you think PS3 is better?

I think it's still 3 but I do know as soon as its repaired they will cover it for another 3 years. Plus if it does go, you can be sure they will replace it with the new motherboard and chipset configuration. Microsoft also replace accessories as well,

IMHO the PS3 is not much better, I'm already on my 3rd and I use it no were as near as much as the Xbox. First one went a week after it was out of warranty and had major issues getting Sony to do something about it. In Sony's favour though they do try and get a replacement out within 24 hours.

Bluray is rubbish, the discs are far too expensive. Until they can be pirated cheaply, they'll never become mainstream. Usually what drives new video formats is the availability of porn on it, VHS and DVD benefited from this. Unfortunately for Bluray, the good old t'internet supplies this more easier :-)  As for games, very few studios are developing games to take advantage due to the extra cost involved and the fact they instantly reduce their targeted market for game.

As for superior games, I think more people in the industry would seriously disagree with you. Apart from the massively superior library of games on the Xbox; nearly all the games being released now are available on both consoles, with minimal graphics differences; differences the average gamer like yourself would barely notice unless pointed out. In fact GTA4 runs at a higher resolution on the XBox but like I say, you would never notice the difference.  There are a few exclusive titles on both consoles and that's where you need to make the choice to buy either, or both like myself, but i'd say there is nothing i've played exclusively on the PS3 that cannot be replicated on the Xbox.

I have a PS3 and blu-ray is fantastic. I would find it difficult to go back to ordinary DVD now although I still have a load of them. Certainly any film I really want to buy I now get on blu-ray like the Dark Knight. The picture and sound is far superior to DVD although it's probably not as big a jump as from VHS to DVD. If you're not into high-def though the PS3 still plays ordinary DVD's.

I actually have a 360 as well and really there isn't much difference between the consoles. I think xbox live is probably more user friendly for online gaming than the PS3 version while the PS3 has blu-ray. Just a matter of what you're more interested in really.

Had both but The X box is the best of them. Have to agree with mc!

3 year warranty only covers three red lights.  One red light a graphics chip melt down is not covered by the warranty and costs about 60 - 70 pounds to fix

xbox versus the playstation.
Very informative.

Does anyone know how to get your downloaded movie torrent files to play on your Xbox 360 console?

Can't you just burn them to a dvd and play them on the xbox? I presume these DVD files are .iso or some other image file type. You need a DVD burning program like nero, select burn image to disc and stick in the DVD (you may need dual layer dvds for some movies and hence a dual layer dvd burner - most modern dvd writers are dual layer compatible.)

Now getting downloaded torrent xbox games to run is a totally different story!

Do you need to sign up to a subscription or anything?
Is it wireless?

Thanks in advance!!

I have a computer question of a different sort. I am currently trying to up load a youtube video which lasts 12 minutes, the problem is I think you can only use 10 minutes of video time before starting into a new one. Is there anyway around this where I can just up load the 12 minute's without needing to go into a second video?

Will this work Gnevin if i download?  I have never hooked the XBOX up to XBL and keep getting an error xbox 360 status code 51-c00df236.  i take it i need the latest updates from MS for this to work but if i download this tversity should this bypass this requirement?
Yes that error code means it can't understand th  format the file is in. tversity gets around all that .

I just updated about two weeks ago.

51-c00df236  is the error message requiring a codec update.  just update and you are then able to play downloaded movies , music etc.  Therefore eliminating the need for tversity. ( i think !)

Naw MS aren't supporting the majority of formats . While the coverage has improved its still not universal and their is nothing worse than sitting down to watch some tv and finding out it refuse's to play.

OK im now able to play my downloaded movies on my xbox through a USB pen but my question is how do i get them the movie off the USB and copy into onto the hard drive of the XBox so i can watch it without having to put the media onto the USB every time i want to watch?

Gnevins probably your best bet for advice on that one. You can stream directly from your pc to xbox apparently ( ive never done it ). I have an external hard dive and just plug it in.  Anything burned to disc plays as well. Normally 5-6 movies per disc

The xbox i have is the basic arcade version. Mrs bensars got it when she upgraded her mobile so there is very little memory.  DOnt have it on now but should be straight forward enough when you go into memory and select the pendrive ( i would have thought)
