Guys bit of a plug for a mate of mine that plays in this band, they are on the go a couple of years and this is there first gig in Ireland, normally they play around venues mainly in England but recently did a couple of shows in Germany. Anyway if any of ye are fans of this type of music gets yourselves along.
Maddog, deffo 1 for me. All time fav song is "Love will tear us apart". Saw the film "Control" recently, absolutely fantastic. Thanks for the heads - up.
Best of luck to them. But be warned that if they are a tribute band and will sound exactly like the albums! Get a few tins and put on the albums at home.
You may say that that is what Ian would do but I don't know. Reading the book about Ian Curtis written by his wife. I don't think I would have liked him.

He was also a civil servent working in the Labour!
The irony of that will be lost on those not of a certain age and generation.

I thought it was a pretty dreary (if representative) account of the band and Ian's demise.
I was left wondering who this movie might be aimed at 26 odd years after the event? As a fan of the band it offered little new, and I didn't feel it presented the music in a way that might stimulate new listener interest.
I kid you not, some wnaker has stole Ian curtis' grave stone from the graveyard!!!!!

Read the book, still quite undecided about it. While I have no doubt Ian Curtis was a bit of a nightmare and a man with pretty severe issues; I felt it was a little bit one sided and she come across very bitter towards the other members of the band. Still definitely worth a read.

one of my fav bands, remember well when curtis died , love will tear us apart was truely brillent single, but it was the two albums unknown pleasure and closer
that really made them so popular back in those school days. for me closer is the better and one of my all time fav albums. if you are not yet a fan then last years best of joy division album is well worth getting,brillent stuff.

I also saw the documentary 'Joy Division' about a month ago, mostly in the band's (and people they knew's) own words, through interviews. A good counterpoint to the movie, for those interested.
