Title: Rose of Tralee
Post by: Frank Casey on August 21, 2007, 08:50:19 PM
So that ye can sing along later this evening when the new Mary is crowned. The words could be handy around 5.00pm on Sunday as well.

The pale moon was rising above the green mountain
The sun was declining beneath the blue sea
When I strayed with my love to the pure crystal fountain
That stands in beautiful vale of Tralee.
She was lovely and fair as the rose of the summer
Yet, 'twas not her beauty alone that won me
Oh no! 'Twas the the truth in her eye ever beaming
That made me love Mary, the Rose of Tralee.

The cool shades of evening their mantle were spreading
And Mary all smiling was listening to me
The moon through the valley her pale rays was shedding
When I won the heart of the Rose of Tralee.
Though lovely and fair as the rose of the summer
Yet, 'twas not her beauty alone that won me
Oh no! 'Twas the the truth in her eye ever beaming
That made me love Mary, the Rose of Tralee.

I drove to Tralee for work a couple of years ago and I was looking for the mall but hadn't a clue where it was.  I pulled over to ask directions, opened the window and who was the first to walk past - Seamus Moynihan.  He looked surprised I was asking directions and not his autograph.  I'm from Tyrone ffs.

I assumed he was from Tralee based on that.

If anyone else wants to become an escort:

How to become an Escort

As the role of an Escort is such a popular one, we receive many applications from interested men all over the world. There is no criteria involved in becoming an Escort, but applicants should make sure they are available for interviews in Dublin and for the International Festival in Tralee in August.

If you are interested in becoming an Escort you will need to download an application form. Your completed form should include 4 recent passport sized photographs of yourself and the application fee of €25.00.

Escorts are also expected to find their own sponsors who are required to pay a sponsorship fee if their entrant is successful. More details of this can be found on the application form.

If you are unable to download the application form, please contact the Festival Office and we will send you one.

Rose of Tralee International Festival, Ashe Memorial Hall, Denny Street, Tralee, Co Kerry.
