Post by: joebloggs on November 24, 2006, 06:42:23 PM
Does anyone know what the average attendance at inter county championship matches has been over the years or know where i could get such figures? trying to do a graph to show how the popularity of the gaa has risen over the years.

There's a big difference between Championship and NFL attendances.
I'd guess the average Inter Co Championship would work out at about 20,000
but the NFL would be more like 3 or 4,000.
I presume Croke Park would have such records -however they'd be official crowds and
we all know what they can be like ::)

If you are looking at Ulster, dont forget the McKenna Cup. Remember Armagh v Tyrone in Casement?

Joe,

Get your hands on the annual report that goes to Congress. There's figures for every championship match in there.
