Backdoor draw I assume has to be made yet, I presume it's open in terms of who gets what backdoor teams?
Anyway, I've had a stab at it. Rather than Carlovians and Rossies getting all indignant and such, I'd prefer if ye just logged on and bet.
Cheers.
Laois 3/1
Derry 7/2
Cork 4/1
Tyrone 9/2
Kerry 11/2
Galway 7/1
Roscommon 16/1
Carlow 33/1
Fair play to you LS, taking a chance pricing it up before the main protagonists get involved this weekend - I'd say that could be a big price on the current Hogan and All Ireland Voc schools champions, Tyrone.
Will the draw be open this year? Since the minor semi's will be played prior to the senior semi's I would have thought that they'll try and end up with the same pairings, ie Ulster v Conaught semi, and Leinster v Munster semi? But given the lack of information on the gaa's totally shite website, who would know.
BTW where can I find a list of scorers in the hurling and football championship to date (this season)?

Sssshhhhhhhhh! ;)
I am well aware that Tyrone's minor league form is a bit of an anomaly in that there were certainly no Omagh CBS lads involved and there were a few others missing as well - however Derry look savage strong so far too, and if you have to take on a provincial winner in the QF it's a tough road from there.
It looks like a good standard all round - that Laois team is as good as I've seen come out of Leinster in a long time, whatever people might say about their recruitment techniques, while the Cork lads are building nicely as well and are meant to be very decent. A lot of good teams in it this year.
Basically the draw is Ulster winner vs Connacht, Leinster vs Munster - but as far as I'm aware the provincial runners up will be open draw, and if for argument's sake Kerry knock off Galway in the quarters, they take the place of the Connacht champions for the semi finals.
For the top scorers, what I can do is post you a list of my odds for top scorer, and I have every player's tally so far in brackets.

No turf-making superstitions. It's Tyrone's turn - 1998, 2001, 2004, 2007(?) (Each time followed by another Ulster winner - Down, Derry, Down)
Lone shark
Is there EW on minor champs?
1/3 the odds to finish in the first two. I'll have to see the draw before I can be sure that it'll continue though. If for example there was one finalist coming out of Cork/Galway/Ros/Carlow I wouldn't be mad happy with each way.
What were Masters' odds before the season started?
He was always the favourite - 5/1 or so if memory serves. Obviously starting off with 1-7 and 2-7 brought him in a fair bit.
I believe the Quarter Finals are long ago fixed as Connacht winners v Leinster runners up and vice/vera. Munster Winners v ..........
The Semis will be as the Senior rota- winner of Connacht Champions game v winner of Ulster Champions game.
I was told all this by people from our Minor Camp.
I emailed the GAA yesterday asking for confirmation of the draw and this is what I have received back.

Hard to see Kerry progressing much further but with minors you never know.
Now that you know this Lone Shark Roscommon surely must be the rank outsiders, they possibly have to beat the Leinster and Ulster champions before they even get another crack at Galway :P
They definitely won't have to play the Ulster champions - but I think 16/1 7th favourite of eight is making them outsiders enough, no?

Lone Shark, can you give me a link to the Ladbrokes site GAA odds ?
Will the £60 free bet for opening an online account be valid for GAA bets ?
Thanks.

Follow the link for GAA in the left hand menu bar.
As for the free bet offers, there's always different ones around with different T's & C's attached - you'd want to check with customer service to be sure to be honest.
I think the quarter finals are now...
Galway v Carlow
Laois v Roscommon
Cork v Derry
Tyrone v Kerry
semis
Galway v Carlow v Tyrone v Kerry
Laois v Roscommon v Cork v Derry
What way will the minor quarter finals be fixed, two quarter minor double headers, or will they be put on with the senior q/finals?
I would hazard an uneducated guess at two double headers - Tullamore for the Connacht/Leinster ones and possibly Parnell Pk for the Ulster/Munster.
HAs anyone heard anything about the quarter final venues??
I'm told Parnell Park is the venue for Tyrone and Kerry - not sure about the others.
What's the latest top scorers betting for the SFC?

Fingers crossed. They had an extra gear in them on Saturday but are prone to falling asleep like the 2nd half against Carlow. And given that Carlow were hammered I wouldn't be too confident yet. John O'Loughlin was savage I hear -- won 12 balls in midfield, 10 of them clean.
i reckon derry will go far. determined after losing the UF under harsh circumstances. dont be surprised if they upset the odds, ofcourse kerry will be a tough test on sat.

Are Derry not playing Cork?
my bad, yeah meant cork. and i think they got better draw against them even tho they are munster champs. cuz of all this stuff i hear bout the kerry lads gettin arrested, dont rele know the details.
Derry are playing Cork.
Looks fairly wide open. Kerry beat a highly fancied Tyrone team and Cork were better than Kerry in Munster.
From our own point of view I'm pleasantly surprised to see us in the semi-finals. Not much was expected of this year's minors and they were generally thought to lack the star names of other years and to therefore be inferior to the last few minor teams we've had yet they've gone further than any of them. I saw Carlow against Laois and I thought they were a fine team but Galway put them away even more comprehensively than Laois did. Hard to tell with minors though. They can have good days and bad days.
derry to win, decy mullan to score 2-13
Any word on the derry team? Id imagine there will be a few changes after the performance the last day out.
What are cork like, doesn't bode well for derry after the kerry tyrone result, but suppose minors is on the day as they say.
You've quite an obssesion with declan mullan heurebag.
must say he looks a handy player any time ive seen him!
Kerry 2 - 1
Laois 9 - 4
Galway 10 - 3
Cork 9 - 2
Derry 5-1
Anyone know what the semi final pairings and dates are??
I think it should be Cork or Derry v. Laois and Kerry v. Galway.
Sun 19th Aug - Kerry v Galway
Sun 26th Aug - Laois v Cork/Derry
Cork 1-4 Derry 0-1 Nearly halftime. Cork kivking wides
1-4 0-2 ht.
Any FT score ?
Derry 1-8, Cork 1-7
That was some turnaround. What the hell happened Cork?
a derry double would be nice heres hoping ;)
Great win for Derry, and deserving after the Ulster Final debacle. Hope they fly the flag in the final.
Derry played very poorly in the first half, but quickly made a few changes and began to improve. players who i was impressed with - andrew warnock, carlus mcwilliams, micky mckinney, stephen cleary. man of match declan mullan.

Good luck to the Galway minors on Sunday. I guess they'll be going in as underdogs but you never know on the day with minors.
derrry to win sur
Cracking game of football.
Téinn amuiribh Gaillimh
second goal killed kerry..
Very high standard of score taking and football in general. There never sems to be a bad player on Kerry teams. Both teams deserve great credit for as entertaining a game as I've seen in a while. Pity the cynical gamesmanship will be instilled into these lads.
Maith an foireann sin, Gaillimh, cluiche an chorraitheach a bhí ann.
Kerry underage will have to wait another year for a elusive AI. No AI for Minor or under 21's for a long time now. Kerry are also struggling to win under 21 Munster titles also. Not sure of the stats but i think it has been the mid-ninties since and AI has been won at either grade. Still it's so far seems to have had no effect on the aristocrats at senior level!

Its 98 since kerry won an u21 title . Well beaten midfiield in the second half ,Welsh Rettin (Galway no 15 ) very good today . The goals kept Galway in it . Still from the Munster final display this is a big improvement .
Graet result for our lads today. Thought it was a cracking game of football. Some of the point taking was unbelievable. i thought Kerry would never miss. They had a grand total of ONE wide in the entire game.Considering this, it was a super win for us.
For me, Anthony Griffin at midfield was our man of the match. He was outstanding. Our 2 corner backs were also very good though Colin Forde at full back had a nightmare game.
Conroy also did very well and kicked some nice points.Damien Reddington had a storming last 15 minutes while Conor Doherty was brilliant in the first half at wing back.
Jonathan Ryan had a poor game - he is so totally left-sided it is easy for the opposing defence to read him. Also, he was miles behind his man for most of the game when the ball was played into his corner first time.
Michael Martyn did quite well especially in the second half as did John O'Brien throughout.
Overall though, a good win and much room for improvement still.
QuoteDamien Reddington had a storming last 15 minutes
Thought he was excellent throughout, always gave Galway an outlet up front, scored at least two points and hand an important role in both goals. He also made one magnificent diagonal ball for a goal chane in the second half.
Agreed, Reddington was my MOTM.
It was a decent game, and some great score taking. However, there was some awful cases of giving away possession.
Congrats to the minors today. They keep surprising me. Thought they were in trouble at half-time as Kerry seemed incapable of hitting a wide. Barry John Walsh is a huge talent and had our full back in all sorts of bother.
That said Galway dominated possession and lorded it around midfield with Griffin and Conroy especially impressive. Damien Reddington was excellent in the corner and Michael Martyn was quietly effective all day. Doherty was very good at wing-back rampaging forward.
Very good game of football with some fabulous scores and good to see a Galway team with a scattering of big ignorant (in a good way) Connemara lads on the team. ;D
