Title: Apps for Coaching Drills
Post by: guevara on February 08, 2023, 09:13:38 PM
Getting involved in a bit of underage coaching & want the sessions to be a bit more structured than back in the day!

Any recommendations for any apps or programs that are useful for planning out drills/sessions?

Fair play for getting involved, but is anything sacred anymore, apps me hole. Can you not sit down with a pen & paper & work out a 1 hour session?
What age group?
For u8 to u12
Generally 10 min warm up. Running with balls.
35 minutes of drills, where handpass, pick up, kick pass, catching & pull ball into chest. Work with both hands & both feet. Should be plenty of balls & plenty of running with balls. Ideally should have 1 coach per 5 girls/boys. No coach giving out telling kids what they are doing wrong, positive reinforcement.
Finish with 15 minute game ideally stronger 7 v 7 & weaker 7 v 7, everybody getting plenty of game time & plenty of touches.
Try variants of the same drill in different pitch locations on alternate weeks, bring structured tackling into drills after 8 weeks.
Dont over complicate drills, some coaches confuse young kids, group a run left, group b run diagonally etc.
Good luck

Sums it up pretty well.  If they're U7 or U8 keep it fairly simple for them to follow.  You'll probably be spending half your time herding cats ;D
