Title: New Planning Portal NI
Post by: giveherlong on January 05, 2023, 11:53:08 PM
Anyone using the new planning portal yet?
They have made some balls up of it, especially the search facility
I know the old one wasn't great but at least it worked

Yea its a complete mess of a portal.
Mid Ulster were right to go out on there own, they have a a far better portal and it cost a hell of a lot less to set up.

That's public departments and money for you. Has there ever been an IT project delivered on time, on budget and actually functional?

Not a chance. NICS is the worst performing CS anywhere in the Western world. Absolute chancers. People promoted over and over again based on time served rather than ability. Anyone with any ounce of ability or skill leaves and works in the private sector.

You pay court fines online
You pay tax online.
You book your vehicle MOT online.
You search PRONI online
You report non-emergency crime online
You analyse crime stats online
You analyse census stats online
You report water leakages online

The list is actually endless.

I havent looked yet, but I suspect the new planning portal has been lifted from another jurisdiction and tailored.

It's impossible to be promoted in NICS for "time served"

Yes, you can do these things online but doesn't mean they are actually fit for purpose.

If fairness that was one of the ones I recently had a look at because for years and until very recently it was diabolical. While I haven't booked an appointment on the new system yet I'll need to do so before the end of the month so will know better then.

Mud ulster one is great, far better than the old NI one. Haven't tried the new one yet but will have a look today.

Edit - it is indeed rubbish. Why do I need an account to see anything?

The new MOT one was delivered late, over budget and didn't do everything it was supposed to.
But.....there are lots of excellent NICS online services delivered under the Nidirect programme of work. Almost all over budget though.
I havent seen the new planning portal. Anyone know who had the contract to build it? Or did they do it internally?

Can you do digital online bacs payment on it? Or a link which allows the client to pay for the submission.
