Post by: seafoid on December 22, 2022, 02:06:31 PM
When Austin Currie died, the following politicians attended

President Michael D Higgins, Tánaiste Leo Varadkar, Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney, Minister for Justice Helen McEntee, Social Democratic and Labour Party (SDLP) leader Colum Eastwood and a representative of Taoiseach
Micheál Martin were among those who attended the service at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Allenwood, Co Kildare.

Today the funeral for Private Seán Rooney, the soldier killed in Lebanon featured :

President Michael D Higgins, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, Tánaiste Micheál Martin, Garda Commissioner Drew Harris and Chief of Staff of the Defence Forces Lieutenant General Seán Clancy were all in attendance.

Very rare to see the Prez and the Taoiseach together at a funeral. There must be a spreadsheet somewhere
